DEATH NOTICE Bob Hudson The Attwater's Prairie Chicken Endangered Species Festival is proud to be working in conjunction with KIDFISH. This year's event, held April 12, will again be located at Thornton Pond (1-1/2 miles south of Eagle Lake on FM 102). Just what is KIDFISH? It's a children's fishing event de- signed to introduce young people to the outdoors and fishing while raising funds for outdoor education, conser- vation and community fishing pro- grams. Every KIDFISH participant is a winner! Each child will receive an official KIDFISH t-shirt and ribbon. Children who raise $ 15 or more to support the program will receive a bass trophy. Additional prizes will be awarded to the top five fundraisers and the child who catches the longest fish. KIDFISH is a program of the Sharelunker Foundation and Parks & Wildlife Foundation of Texas, and is sponsored by the Texas Parks & Wild- life Department. Tom Reed, president of Lake Motors, will once again be the Eagle Lake host for this event He will again take KIDFISH regis- tration forms to every Rice CISD school as well as Columbus schools. You may also pick up KIDFISH registration forms at Lake Motors. Forms must be completed and turned in at the event site. All sponsor- ship money must be collected and turned in to receive your prize. Everything your child will need to catch a fish will be supplied: rod, reel, bait and tackle. Or, you may bring your own fishing equipment. Volunteers will be on hand to as- sist you and your child catch the fish stocked for KIDFISH. Mr. Bob Hudson, 51, of Eagle Lake died at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday evening, March 25, 1997, at Rice Medical Center in Eagle Lake. Funeral services were pending as of press time. Brunner, Thomas to wed May 17 Ms. Diana Brunner and William Brunner of Eagle Lake are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Shanna Kay, to Ca ben Callis, son of Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Thomas of Bell- ville. The bride-elect is a graduate of Rice High School and recently received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary studies. The prospective groom is a graduate of Bellville High School and attending the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Manage- ment at the University of Houston. He is presently employed at South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference in League City. The couple plan to marry May 17 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Lake. LCRA employees donate $ 1,000 to local organizations Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) employees recendy contrib- uted $1,000 to the Eagle Lake Minis- terial Alliance Food Pantry and the Eula & David Wintermann Library. The Eagle Lake Ministerial Alli- ance Food Pantry received $750 to buy food, help pay utility bills and pur- chase medicine for those in need in the area. The Wintermann Library received $250 to help defray the cost for arts and craft supplies, reading incentives, Pictured above are Donna Clendennen, a member of LCRA's environ- mental staff and United Charities, presenting a check for $250 to Charlene Rodgers, director of Wintermann Library, and a check for $750 to Russ Minter, president of the Eagle Lake Ministerial Alliance, to help support prizes and refreshments for children enrolled in the Texas Reading Club. The donations were made by the LCRA Employees' United Charities and presented by Donna Clendennen, a member of LCRA's environmental staff and a United Chariues represen- tative. "Both of these programs are vital to the community," Clendennen said. "Our employees are pleased to be able to help care for and educate both chil- dren and adults." LCRA Employees who partici- pate in the LCRA Employees' United Chariues voluntarily donate 70% of one hour's pay monthly to support the program. LCRA Employees' United Chari- ties contributes an average of $200,000 a year to support a variety of nonprofit organizations throughout LCRA's 58-county service area, in- cluding Colorado County. Charlene Rodgers, director of the Wintermann Library, received that organization's donation. "This donation will provide sup- plies for the children in our summer program. We are so impressed that LCRA employees are willing to give a portion of their salary to help others, and we appreciate them choosing our organization to support," Rodgers said. The Library's summer reading program has an average of 95 children ages 4 to 10 registered each year. Accepting the donation for the Food Pantry was Rev. Russ Minter, current president of the Eagle Lake Ministerial Alliance. "This $750 donation will help tre- mendously with our expenses," Min- ter said. "The employees at LCRA have certainly demonstrated their love and care for the people in our commu- nity. Our hats are off to these generous people." About 75% of the food distributed is donated and about 25% is purchased from the food bank in Victoria. The LCRA is a Texas conserva- tion and reclamation district with no taxing authority. LCRA's statutory district covers 10 counties along the lower Colorado River including Colorado County. LCRA's Lakeside Water Divi- sion, which distributes irrigation wa- ter to farmers in Colorado County and parts of Wharton County, is based in Eagle Lake.
