National News
Data Released by National Statistical Office
• As per the data of the National Statistical
Office, Ministry of Statistics and Programme
Implementation, India’s Gross Domestic Product in
Q1 FY22 grew by 20.1 percent as compared to a
contraction of 24.4 (-24.4) percent in Q1 FY21.
• GDP at Constant Prices (2011-12): It is
estimated at Rs 32.38 lakh crore in Q1 FY22, as
against Rs 26.95 lakh crore in Q1 FY21 (a growth of
20.1 percent).
• GDP at Current Prices: It is estimated to be Rs 51.23 lakh crore in Q1 FY22, as against Rs 38.89 lakh crore
in Q1 FY21 (a growth of 31.7 percent as compared to a contraction of 22.3 percent in Q1 FY21).
• Gross Value Added (GVA) at Constant Prices: It is estimated at Rs 30.48 lakh crore, as against Rs 25.66
lakh crore in Q1 of FY21 (a growth of 18.8 percent).
• GVA at Current Prices: It is estimated at Rs 46.20 lakh crore as against Rs 36.53 lakh crore in Q1 FY21
(growth of 26.5 percent).
• Pre Pandemic Level Comparison: The GDP growth in Q1 FY22 was 9.2 percent lower than in the Q1 FY20
(i.e. Prior to COVID-19 level) and the overall GVA in Q1 FY22 was 7.8 percent lower than the Q1 FY20.
• As per data released by the Controller General of Accounts (CGA), India’s fiscal deficit during April – July
2021 stood at Rs 3.21 lakh crore or 21.3 percent of the budget estimate at the end of July 2021.
• The fiscal deficit for FY22 was estimated by the centre at Rs 15.07 lakh crore.

commemorative coin on the occasion of the 125th
birth anniversary of Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta
Swami Prabhupada, the Founder Acarya of the
International Society for Krishna
Consciousness(ISKCON) popularly known as the
Hare Krishna Movement.
• He was born on 1st September 1896 in
Calcutta, British India.
• Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada was a leader in the Gaudiya Vaishnava community, a monotheistic
tradition within the broader Hindu culture.
• He established the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in 1966.

Solung Festival of Arunachal Pradesh
• Festival of the Adi Tribe of Arunachal
Pradesh namely ‘Solung’ has began.
• It is a harvest festival performed after
sowing of seeds and transplantation, to
seek for good crops.
• First day is called Solung-Gidi Dogin or the
day of preparations.
• Second and the main day of the celebration
is called Doreph-Long
• Third day is Binnayat Binam or worshipping the goddess of plenty and prosperity.
• Fourth day is Yaktor of Ekoph when the villagers prepare bows and arrows and other weapons of war.
• On the fifth day, the Miri (religious leader or priest) is given a ceremonial send-off when womenfolk sing

‘Saath’ Initiative for the Women SHGs in JK
• Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor
Manoj Sinha has launched a Rural Enterprises
Acceleration Programme named ” Saath ” for the
Self Help Groups Women.
• Workshop will be organised for 5000 women
in the beginning, out of them 500 would be
provided intensive training then 100 will be
selected for mentoring and guidance.
• In Jammu and Kashmir, 48,000 SHGs
comprising 4 lakh women are working already.
• Goal is to create 11000 more SHGs in the coming year.

Assam Renamed Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park as Orang National Park
• Assam has decided to rename the Rajiv
Gandhi Orang National Park as the “Orang
National Park” to honour the Adivasi and
tea tribe communities of Assam.
• The Orang National Park is often referred
to as the mini Kaziranga of Assam.
• Assam has 7 national parks – Dihing Patkai;
Raimona; Kaziranga; Manas; Dibru-
Saikhowa; Nameri and Orang National Park.
• The National park was named Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park in 2001
• An area of 79.28 sq km located on the north bank of the Brahmaputra in the Darrang and Sonitpur
districts of Assam was originally declared as a Wildlife sanctuary in 1985 and was declared as a national
park in 1999.

Indian Navy Signed Contract with BEL
• The Indian Navy has signed a contract with
Bharat Electronics Limited for the manufacture
and supply of India’s 1st indigenously developed
Naval Anti Drone System with both ‘hard kill’ and
‘soft kill capabilities.
• The NADS has been developed by the
Defence Research and Development Organisation
and manufactured by BEL.
• Hard kill refers to jamming the hostile drone,
whereas the soft kill involves a laser-based kill system.
• NADS will be the 1st indigenously developed anti-drone system to be inducted into the Indian Armed
Forces.

work in science to prevent infectious diseases
among children.

RBI Plans to Set up 5 Member Committee on NUE Licences
• The Reserve Bank of India plans to set up a
5-member committee headed by P
Vasudevan to examine applications and
give recommendations on New Umbrella
Entity licences.
• RBI allowed other organisations to set up
umbrella entities for payments systems to
create an alternate mechanism to the
National Payments Corporation of India
• RBI has fixed March 31, 2021, as the deadline for making applications to form NUEs. But now for data
safety concerns, RBI has put NUE license issuance under hold.
• NUEs will be a non-profit entity that will perform as like NPCI and operate new payment systems,
especially in the retail space such as ATMs, white-label point of sale terminals (PoS), Aadhaar-based
payments and remittance services, operation of clearing and settlement systems for participating banks
and non-banks, etc.
• So far, around 6 consortiums, including those led by Amazon, Google, Facebook, and the Tata group,
applied for the NUEs licences, in partnership with companies such as Reliance Industries Ltd, ICICI Bank
Ltd, and Axis Bank.
• State Bank of India and Union Bank were barred by the finance ministry from seeking NUE licences as
they were shareholders in NPCI.

Zerodha to launch its AMC
• The Securities and Exchange Board of India
has given its in-principle approval to Zerodha to
launch its Asset Management Company
