Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launched the 7th consecutive

edition of Swachh Survekshan

of Housing and Urban Affairs launched the

7th consecutive edition of Swachh

Survekshan 2022 themed on ‘People First’

• Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban will organize a

series of citizen centric activities under the

overarching theme of Jan Bhagidari.

• MoHUA also released a coffee table book

titled ‘A Change of Heart’ featuring

inspirational stories of individuals and communities related to urban India’s cleanliness drive.

• A short film, ‘Swachhata Se Samriddhi’ showcasing the milestones of the last seven years in the

Swachhata journey was also released.

• Two population categories under 15K and between 15-25K are introduced for smaller cities. District

rankings are also introduced for the first time.

• Introduced by MoHUA in 2016 to rank cities on cleanliness parameters in 73 cities

‘Nata-Sankirtana’ Dance & Music Festival at Imphal

• The Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy

Imphal, Manipur has organised the ‘Nata-Sankirtana’, a

3-day dance and music festival.

• The Nata-Sankirtana is one of the annual

features of the JNMDA, to promote Nata Sankirtana

among the young generation.

• Sankirtana, the unique cultural heritage of

Manipur was inscribed on the United Nations

Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of

Humanity.

• The government of India has set up a task force

under Ajay Seth, Secretary of the Department of

• As a part of this initiative, a survey will be conducted

to assist the United Nations Development Programme

(India) to assess the climate and environmental, social

and governance resilience in India’s financial sector.

• Central Government has launched a National

Action Plan for dog Mediated Rabies

Elimination by 2030 for the elimination of dog

mediated rabies by 2030.

• The action for the same has been drafted by

the National Centre for Disease Control

• The Union Ministers also launched the Joint

Inter-Ministerial Declaration Support

Statement for the elimination of dog mediated

rabies from India by 2030 through the One Health Approach.

• 33% of global rabies deaths are recorded in India.

GST Council Sets Up 2 GoMs to look into the rate structure and

systems reforms

• Goods and Services Tax Council led by Finance

Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has set up 2 group of

ministers to look into the rate structure and another to

look at systems reforms required to plug revenue

leakages.

• 1st GoMs was constituted under the head of

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. The GoM

will review the current tax slab rates and recommend

changes in the same.

• The 2nd GoM was constituted under the head of Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.The GoM will

review on GST System Reforms, which will look at tapping IT tools to minimise tax evasion and make

compliance easier for taxpayers.

India’s 1st ‘Sports Arbitration Centre of India’ in Gujarat

• Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju inaugurated India’s 1st ‘Sports Arbitration Centre of India’ in Gujarat. The SACI will serve as an independent body to redress the disputes in the sports sector and expand the country’s sports sector.

• The Ministry of Law and Justice will provide all the legal backing to the SACI.

• The SACI will be promoted by Ahmedabad-based SE TransStadia Pvt Ltd.

• The Ministry of Tourism launched NIDHI 2.0 (National

“Promotion of Medical Device Parks” Scheme to Promote Medical Device Parks

• The Government of India notified the “Promotion of Medical Device Parks” scheme, a scheme to support the medical devices industry and to promote medical device parks across India.

• The financial outlay of the scheme is Rs 400 crore and its tenure is from the financial year 2020-2021 to 2024-2025.

• To ensure access to testing and infrastructure facilities and to reduce the cost of medical device production and make them

affordable for domestic consumption.

• The centre has granted the in-principle approval for Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

• Financial assistance for a park would be 70% of the project cost and for Northeastern and Hilly states it will be 90%.

• The maximum financial assistance for a park under the scheme is Rs 100 crore.

Govt Dissolves Ordnance Factory Board

• Defence Ministry of India had dissolved the Ordnance Factory Board

• Ordnance Factory Board is an entity under the Department of Defence Production which supplies critical arms and ammunition to the three-armed forces and the paramilitary.

• As per the announcement issued by the Government of India on May 16,2020, the

management, control, operations and maintenance of 41 production units and identified non-production units under OFB will be transferred to the wholly government owned seven defence PSUs (Public Sector Units) with effect from October 1,2021.

• The employees of OFB who are working in production and non-production units will be moved to the new DPSUs on terms of foreign service without any deputation allowance initially for a period of two years.

• Seven new companies will be operated by Indian Government for defence production with ₹91,200 crore as authorised capital to improve accountability and efficiency of defence production units

• With the infusion of Rs 500 Cr, the J&K government’s equity share in the J&K Bank will increase to over 74 percent.

• Reserve Bank of India recently allowed the J&K government to acquire over 16.76 crore shares in the Bank

• The bank has recently issued the Employees Stock Purchase Scheme to raise capital of Rs 150 Cr by issuing 7.5 crore equity shares to eligible employees of the bank.
