Hello Division 22 Hikina, Time is flying by! I hope you all are having a wonderful school year full of friends, studies, and service! As we continue to be busy bees, please remember what is important, your health, family, school work (including college applications), and service. Everyone has been working so hard to grow their clubs this year in both size and goals! I am so proud of you all. Please remember to log into the Membership Update Center to make your official club roster and pay your dues for the 2013-2014 Key Club Year! I hope you are all excited for the Halloween Social happening on October 19th! Please remember the key things that you need to bring that night, such as, socks, school ID, and club roster printed from the MUC. I also look forward to seeing you all in your creative costumes at the October DCM taking place before the event! Although this will be a very fun event, please remember the reason why we are gathering together which is to prevent Maternal Neonatal Tetanus through donations to Project Eliminate/ UNICEF. Please continue to participate in service, and I look forward to seeing you all soon! Please feel free to contact me with any questions through email, phone call, or text. On September 4th, Roosevelt's Key Clhb set out after school to Ward Center to help prep some things for the upcoming annual Alzheimer's walk. This was a chance for our returning members and some of our new members to bond as we all set up things for the walk. A group of members helped stuff the six-hundred totes while another group cut out different flyers and set up signs. Together, we worked as a team to finish this huge event and were rewarded with snacks. All in all, this was a great event to bond with each other and many of us hope to do something like this again. Farrington Key Club started with a big BANNNGG this month. Along with other clubs, this month is a crucial month for membership. However, Farrington Key Club brought out their Key Club spirit to showcase what Key Club is all about and outshine other clubs. For example, flyers, created by some artistic geniuses, have been distributed since school registration, posters were posted everywhere around campus, and current Farrington Key clubbers have been super friendly to our fellow “governors” in answering different questions about Key Club. Three weeks ago, Farrington Key Club held its first general meeting. Almost 100 new/interested members showed-up and it was almost a 65% increase in membership. Our current club president and her officers were very optimistic not only about how many showed-up but also they saw many great potential leaders for the club’s future. For example, in one of the icebreakers students were asked to define what community service is to them and one of the returning members said, “To be able to demonstrate the good morals of a good citizen in the community… And treasure EVERY value that you can learn through the diverse spectrum of community services that cannot be taught in a four-corner room. Those values are important. But not only that, but to see someone smile is worth a lot because your good deeds and actions are priceless…” BY: Jhon Malabed
Featured Project The Made In Hawaii festival is an annual, 3-day showcase of products that are "Made in Hawaii," and is a great way to support local businesses. Products that are sold include food, art, gifts, fashions, plants, crafts, produce, and more. This year, Punahou Key Club volunteered at the Meadow Gold Dairies booth, one of the many food booths at the Made In Hawaii Festival. We helped sell ice cream and package the sold ice cream into the mini coolers. This was an awesome volunteering experience Another because all of the proceeds went toward the Lani Moo Fund. The Lani Moo Fund was created by Meadow Gold Dairies Hawaii and provides funding to altruistic organizations that support Hawaii's families and children. BY: Angeline Zhou
