cultural heritage of the uk v1
TRANSCRIPT
If all of the world´s cultural heritage was contained in a time capsule, what would you include to demonstrate the legacy of your country?
Anika Ephraim, application for IE Business School.
Britain’s long legacy has contributed not only to its own history, but also to the heritage of many countries outside of its borders. The fingers of the British Empire stretched far and wide, leaving a mark on more than 100 countries.
In the time capsule I would include a timeline of Black British history and a few objects that demonstrate the contributions of ethnic minorities, particularly those from Africa and the Caribbean, to British society and its impact on global affairs. The part that Africans and their descendants played in British history is often overlooked by historians.
