CLCC Family

“Difference Maker” If you are a sports fan, you have probably heard thisphrase used by media talking heads to describe a highly skilled athletewho can make the difference between winning and losing. The Cubsand Blackhawks have several of these, the Bears a few, the Bulls acouple, and the Sox hardly any. By definition, a Difference Maker is anindividual, but by extension of his or her skills, makes a team a winner.

I look at the Board of Directors of CLCC as a Difference Maker. Howdo you mix in 9 strong willed personalities to get on the same pagetoward making a difference? Here is how I do it: Respect, Challenge,Expect. I respect every Member who volunteers for and is elected to aBoard Position. I challenge that Board Member to work hard to executethe goals set by the Board. I expect every Board Member toresponsibly meet his/her tasks. Then, mostly, I just get out of the way.(And listen to Rich Naughton & Ev Pratt, who keep me on point)

So, after a slightly tumultuous start to the year, with 6 new BoardMembers (and a rookie President), is this Board a Difference Maker?

• Pool Deck Resurfacing Project successfully completed on deadline

• House Service & Food Improvement Goals implemented / Trackingat +95% Highly Satisfied

• Hole # 18 Block Retaining Wall complete / Visually stunning / Highlyimproved green complex

• Driving Range re-sodded

• Membership Commitments on the rise

• Member spending healthy (and necessary!)

• State Of The Art Website up and running, and “hits” are way up

As my many attorney friends at CLCC might say, “asked and answered”!

We have so much more to do! I predict the entire dining experience atCLCC will be radically different in the next few years. Different andprofitable! Jerry Zich and his hard working Member Promotion &Development Committee have prepared an exciting MembershipInitiative that targets families and younger professionals. Improvementsto our entire facilities and golf course are under serious discussion, alldesigned to maximize the Member Experience. We are committed tocontinue to be a Difference Maker!

The web site is completely up and running, pleasevisit the flyover area and see how your course looksfrom the air. Also please feel free to let us know ifyou notice something that looks wrong, your help isalways appreciated. The web site is doing exactlywhat we hoped it would, it makes navigating our siteby members easier and faster, and last month wehad six inquiries versus one for the same periodtime last year.

Your Membership committee is already lookingforward to next year and we have several promotions ready to improvemembership levels, but none work better than you the member introducing afriend to our club so we are continuing with the:

Membership Referral Program

Simply introduce a friend or acquaintance to our club and if they join atSwim / Tennis, Associate or Regular level you hit pay dirt. CLCC is willcredit your account $250.00 for each new Swim Tennis member you bring inthat Joins, and $1000.00 for each new Associate or Regular member youbring in that joins. The new member is also rewarded CLCC is reducing theinitiation by 50% during this promotion for those levels. This program isworking well so let’s keep introducing those new members.

CRYSTAL LAKE COUNTRY CLUB UPDATE November, 20154

From The Grounds & Greens Chair

I remember Sunday nights as a kid and thinking about a whole week ofschool ahead of me. The thought of five consecutive days at East AuburnElementary was daunting (Friday nights were more my bag.) I have thesame feeling this time of year at CLCC regarding golf. It’s not over yet,but our winter freeze is just around the corner.

As our 2015 golf season comes to an end, I am finding that Steve’s 2016year is already underway. The planning, and in some cases, purchasecommitments of things like fuel, sod, sand, trees and wear items that weneed for next year has already started. Steve carefully chooses pricesand services that best fit the needs of CLCC. There is nothing that wespend money on that does not get scrutinized.

Fall tree planting

Over the last few years, we have lost or removed over 160 trees. And although I do not advocate the replacement of all these trees, you will notice a slow and steady annual planting of trees. Thing likelife span, height/width, health reputation and the look of the treesare taken into account.

Your questions and comments are always welcomed.

Dave [email protected]

From The Golf Chairman

Fellow Golfing Members,

As the Golf Season winds down, we can report another successful year.

The focus of your Golf Committee this year was to strengthen all of ourgolf programs and the golf experience at CLCC. Overall I believe weaccomplished our mission.

This fall, with an unwavering focus on providing our members with a Bestof Class golfing experience, your Golf Committee will perform a completereview of our golf guidelines and playtime matrix. That and a review ofour member tournament schedule and format.

From a staffing perspective, 2015 brought our new Assistant Pro,Andy Viscardi. Andy made a positive impact in a short amount oftime. Further, the addition of Mario and Ted in the locker roombrought our best service year since our golf professional staff tookover management of the locker room.

In closing, I would like to thank Casey, Andy, Dan and staff for theirdedicated efforts in continuing to bring a top notch golf experienceto CLCC.

Please feel free to contact me with your questions or comments
