Children are naturally curious about floating and sinking. Today your child can be a scientist! Make predictions and observations about objects that float and sink. How is something that sinks different from something that floats? When would you use something that floats? Why do you think some objects sink? Water play can help children understand how the world works, where things come from, and how things are made. Materials: Large container filled with water Collected objects - rubber duck, stone, plastic lid, coins, wooden craft stick, feather, ball, empty water bottle, cork, spoon, marble, toothpick, paper clip, button, toy car, apple, toy block, paper, eraser, sponge, bar of soap, key, shell Instructions: Have your child choose one object at a time. Ask them to predict if it will sink or float. Have your child place the object in the water and observe what happens. Remove the object and place it in either a sink or float pile. Materials:Large container filled with waterCollected objects - rubber duck, stone, plastic lid, coins, wooden craft stick,feather, ball, empty water bottle, cork, spoon, marble, toothpick, paper clip,button, toy car, apple, toy block, paper, eraser, sponge, bar of soap, key, shell

Instructions:Have your child choose one object at a time. Ask them to predict if it will sink orfloat. Have your child place the object in the water and observe what happens.Remove the object and place it in either a sink or float pile. Repeat for all objects.
