Recently,  I  had  the  pleasure  of  meeting  and  talking  with  Thomas  Bähler  (legendary American musician, singer/songwriter, composer and producer).  Tom  generously  shared  amazing  advice  his  father  gave  him  when  he  was  young.  I  asked  Tom  if  I  could  record  the  conversation  and  share  it  with  others  to  which  he  quickly  replied,  “yes”  with  one  stipulation:    I  give  credit  to  his  father  Jack  Bähler.  Jack  is  no  longer  on  the  earth  plane  but  the  transcription  of  this  conversation  allows  you  to  benefit  from  the  pearls  of  wisdom  his  father  beautifully  imparted  to  Tom  in  his  youth.

Jack’s  advice  was  instrumental  in  shaping  Tom’s  viewpoint  of  life  and  if  you  ever  have  the  pleasure  of  meeting  Tom  you  will  see  a  bright  shining  light.  It  is  this  light  I  see  in  Tom  that  inspires  me  to  be  the  best  step-‐up-‐father  I  can  be.

Thank  you  Tom.

Thank  you  Jack.

Your  words  are  an  instrument  that  spreads  joy  and  hope  to  many.  I  am  honored  to  have  met  you  both.

Date:  10/27/12

Place:  Author  Conference  in  Nevada

Circumstances:  Serendipitous,  I  say  that  because  our  recorded  conversation  was  exactly  10  min  10  sec  which  showed  on  my  phone  as  10:10.    My  twin  brother  passed  on  October  10,  2009  and  whenever  I  see  10:10  I  know  it’s  him  communicating  with  me.  I  believe  my  brother  and  Tom’s  father  had  a  hand  in  arranging  this  meeting  to  bring  you  the  following:

*************************************************************************************

Jaden  Sterling:   You  were  describing  something  Tom  that  your  father  said  was  almost  like  a  process.

Tom  Bähler:     You  mean,  about  creativity?

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.  When  he  said  about  the  ideas…

Tom  Bähler:   Yes.  When  I  was  six  years  old.

Jaden  Sterling:   Okay.

Tom  Bähler:   I  remember  it  well.    I  mean,  I  based  my  life  on  it.  Yes,  when  I  was  six,  I  asked  my  dad,  “How  do  you  be  creative?”  And  he  said,  “I'll  tell  you  how  I  do  it.”  And  I'll  just  tell  you  the  whole  story  because  he  also  said  -‐  he  said,  “I'll  tell  you  how  I  do  it.”  And  I  loved  that  about  him  because  he  never  said,  “This  is  the  way.”  In  fact,  he  used  to  say,  “If  somebody  says  this  is  the  way,  run  the  other  way.”

Jaden  Sterling:   I  love  that.

Tom  Bähler:   Yes.  So  he  said,  “I'll  tell  you  how  I  do  it.  I  declare  what  I  want  and  then,  I  let  it  go.”  And  I'm  six,  so  I'm  like,  “Huh?”  And  he  said,  well,  son  when  you  declare  something,  you  send  energy  out.  And  it  will  come  back  to  you  if  it  serves  others  as  well.  And  so,  I’m  starting  to  get  it.  And  he  said,  “And  once  you  declare,  you  let  it  go  but  you  remain  very  vigilant  because  it  will  come  to  you.  But  when  it  comes  to  you,  you  may  not  recognize  it  at  first  because  if  you  did,  it  wouldn’t  be  new.  And  then,  you  would  invite  that  idea  whatever  format  comes  into  you,  invite  that  idea  into  you.  And  you  take  care  of  it  like  you  would  a  neighbor  who  came  over  to  visit  you.  You  get  it  a  coke  or  a  glass  of  water.  You  cling  to  it.  And  if  that  idea  is  supposed  to  stay  with  you,  it  will  become  part  of  you.  And  if  it  is  not  supposed  to  stay  with  you,  and  it's  just  there  for  a  visit,  it  will  go  tell  other  ideas  it's  found  a  good  host.”

Jaden  Sterling:   That  is  amazing.

Tom  Bähler:   And  it  has  been  what  I  lived  my  life  by  and  it's  given  me  so  much  peace.  And  also,  people  say,  “Well,  you're  very  courageous.”  And  I'm  thinking,  “I  don't  know.  I  just  do  what  I  -‐  you  know  -‐  but  I  do  love  people,  and  everything  I  do  is  for  others.”

Jaden  Sterling:   So,  do  you  consider  yourself  a  channel?

Tom  Bähler:   Yes.  I  think  we  all  are.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   I  believe  we  all  are.  Quincy  Jones  and  I  are  very  different.  We  were  business  partners.  He  is  also  my  son's  godfather.  So,  we're  very  close.  He  and  I  have  stayed  up  all  night,  many  nights  talking  about  this  very  concept.  And  we  call  it  the  muse.  And  we  actually  both  think  of  her  as  a  woman.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   I  mean  how  we  do  it…

Jaden  Sterling:   The  feminine  energy,  right?  The  receiving  part.

Tom  Bähler:   Yes.  I  don't  even  know  why  we  do  it  but  we  do  it.  And  we  love  the  muse,  and  we  both  said  that  we  have  -‐  you  have  to  gain  access  to  the  muse.  And  we  gain  access  to  the  muse  by  focusing  on  what  we  want,  by  also  learning  about  what  it  is  that  we  want.  Once  we  know  what  we  want,  we  were  curious  about  it.  We  say,  “How  do  they  do  that?  How  did  that  happen?  I  wonder  how  it  is.”  All  of  a  sudden,  now  we’re  students  but  we  don't  know  we're  students.

Jaden  Sterling:   Right.

Tom  Bähler:   We're  just  going  after  what  we  love.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   That  is  working  your  way  to  the  muse  and  at  one  point,  those  doors  opened.  And  she  is  there  for  me.

Jaden  Sterling:   Now,  does  she  have  a  physical  form  or  is  it  more  of  a  feeling  or  knowing?

Tom  Bähler:   Actually,  mine  does.

Jaden  Sterling:   She  does  have  a  physical  form?

Tom  Bähler:   Yes,  I  call  her  angel.

Jaden  Sterling:   Angel?

Tom  Bähler:   Angel.

Jaden  Sterling:   Do  you  see  wings  or  is  it  an  energy?

Tom  Bähler:   No.  Actually,  I  see  an  energy  that's  in  a  feminine  form  in  a  sort  of  copper  color.  That's  for  me.

Jaden  Sterling:   Beautiful.  And  you  see  it  with  your  third  eye  or  with  your  physical  eyes?

Tom  Bähler:   I  don't  know.  I  just  see  it.

Jaden  Sterling:   It  just  comes  to  you?

Tom  Bähler:   It  comes  to  me.  And  what  I  love  about  her  is  that  if  she  comes  to  me  and  with  a  melody  or  whatever,  and  I  don't  pay  attention  to  it,  she  goes  away,  but  not  mad.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

***  at  this  point  Tom  mentions  his  close  personal  friend  Quincy  Jones:

Tom  Bähler:   Quincy  and  I  had  -‐  I  mean,  Quincy  is  so  funny,  its  just  who  he  is.  He  can't  help  it.  I  said,  “Quincy…”  When  we  first  met,  I  said,  “Hey  man,  do  you  wake  up  in  the  middle  of  the  night,  with  tunes  going  through  your  head?”  And  he  goes,  “Yes,  all  the  time.”  I  said,  “Do  you  write  it  down?”  He  said,  “Hell,  yes,  otherwise  It’ll  go  to  Mancini's  house.”

***  I  believe  he  was  referring  to  Henry  Mancini  who  was  a  prolific  musician  winning  four  Oscars  and  20  Grammy  awards  during  his  lifetime  but  this  wasn’t  verified.

Tom  Bähler:   And  it's  true.  But  the  thing  is,  we  love  about  the  muse  and  as  if  we  ignore  her,  she  will  go  to  Mancini's  house.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   But  she'll  come  back  to  ours.  And  when  she  comes  back  to  the  house,  she's  not  like  where  were  you?

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   I  was  here  the  other  night.  Where  the  hell  were  you?

Jaden  Sterling:   Exactly.  She’s  not  pushy.

Jaden  Sterling:   How  do  you  invite  her  in?

Tom  Bähler:   I  don't  invite  her.  She  visits  on  her  own.

Jaden  Sterling:   She  visits.  Okay.  So  you…

Tom  Bähler:   But  I  find  that  I  invite  her  in  by  declaring  what  I  want.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   Okay?

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes,  I  totally  understand  that.

Tom  Bähler:   I  decided  I  had  a  wonderful  account  when  I  was  very  young.  It  was  for  Ford  Motor  Company.  And  I  put  a  group  together  for  them.  And  it  was  totally  serendipitous  that  I  got  the  job  but  I  was  very  well  equipped  for  it.  And  I  ended  up  making  a  ton  of  money.  And  all  of  a  sudden,  that  gig  was  over.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   And  I  thought  to  myself,  I  like  that  income  stream.  How  do  I  maintain  that?  So  I  asked  the  question.  That  was  everything  Dad  used  to  say,  ask  the  question.

Jaden  Sterling:   Rather  than  declaring  what  you  want?

Tom  Bähler:   If  you  don't  know  what  the  declaration  is,  then,  you  say,  you  know,  “What  is  it  that  you  want?”  I  wanted  to  keep  my  lifestyle  the  same.

Jaden  Sterling:   Absolutely.

Tom  Bähler:   So,  I  didn’t  just  put  a  dollar  value  when  I  just  said,  “How  do  I  maintain  this  lifestyle?”  I  like  it.

Jaden  Sterling:   Maybe  it's  what  people  call  intention,  right?

Tom  Bähler:   Yes.  And  then,  it  came  to  me,  well,  by  the  song.  Yes.  And  I  felt,  “Well,  I've  never  written  a  song.”  But  I  did.  And  so,  when  the  song  came  to  me,  I  sat  down  at  the  piano.  My  job  was  to  realize  it.  That  song  had  come  to  me  for  me  to  bring  it  to  the  world.  And  that's  my  service.  So  I  wrote  the  song.  I  actually  gone  on  the  plane  and  went  to  ski  with  my  buddies  in  Europe.  And  I  gave  it  to  my  brother  to  bring  to  the  producer.  And  I  said,  By  the  way,  if  he  doesn't  like  it,  you  wrote  it.  Well,  I  got  a  call  from  him  while  I’m  in  Austria.  And  he  says,  “You  got  Bobby  Sherman's  next  single.”

Jaden  Sterling:   Oh,  my  gosh.

Tom  Bähler:   And  it  served  others.

Jaden  Sterling:   It  did.

Tom  Bähler:   And  then,  something  I  created  in  my  living  room.  I  was  getting  recordings  from  my  publisher  in  German,  in  French,  in  all  of  these  different  languages.  And  it  was  a  hit  around  the  world  and  I  thought,  “Oh,  my  gosh.”  That's  when  it  occurred  to  me  that  something  I  created,  and  actually,  I  was  the  vessel.  But  you  know,  I  say  I  created  it  because  I  listened  and  I  acted.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   Something  I  created  in  my  living  room  is  now  making  people  happy  around  the  world.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes,  beautiful.

Tom  Bähler:   What  a  wonderful  feeling  is  that.

Jaden  Sterling:   There  isn't  anything  better.

Tom  Bähler:   No.

Tom  Bähler:   We're  all  here  to  serve  others.

Jaden  Sterling:   We  are.  I've  always  believed  that.

Tom  Bähler:   Yes.  Yes.

Jaden  Sterling:   And  then,  I've  always  thought  if  we  help  others  reach  their  needs,  our  needs  will  always  be  taken  care  of.

Tom  Bähler:   Absolutely.

Jaden  Sterling:   Right?  it  takes  the  worry  out  of  it.

Tom  Bähler:   Exactly.  And  that's  the  same  time  I  don't  believe  in  the  philosophy  I  hear  some  people  say,  you  know,  you  do  for  others.  I  think  you  need  to  take  care  of  yourself,  too.

Jaden  Sterling:   Most  certainly.

Tom  Bähler:   You  know.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   And  because  if  we're  happy,  we  can  make  other  people  happy.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   So...

Jaden  Sterling:   It's  that  old  stewardess  saying.

Tom  Bähler:   Exactly.

Jaden  Sterling:   Oxygen  mask  first,  right?

Tom  Bähler:   Oxygen  first.  Yes.

Jaden  Sterling:   Yes.

Tom  Bähler:   You  got  to  breathe  to  help  somebody  else  breathe.

Jaden  Sterling:   We're  on  the  same  page.  I  like  that.

Tom  Bähler:   Yes,  cool  man.

Jaden  Sterling:   You're  awesome.  Thank  you  so  much.

Tom  Bähler:   So  are  you.

Jaden  Sterling:   Thank  you.

Tom  Bähler:   This  is  totally,  totally  cool.

Tom  Bähler:   Great  to  meet  you,  Jaden.
