Users are becoming smarter and more able to use technology, and want to do so directly, rather than through a separate IT department. Business departments are taking in business technologists who understand how to use technology for business purposes. Some companies are closing their IT departments and using cloud brokers instead. Copyright The Open Group 2014The Forum has started analyzing the use cases in various ways. This slide shows an Archimate model of a possible implementation of the first use-case Retail Smart Store. As this and other use-case implementation models are developed, it becomes clear that there are a number of basic models that are used in different contexts over and over again. For example, the same basic model appears at the left and right hand sides of this slide. (TOGAF experts may recognize the original TOGAF Technical Reference Model, with an added business layer. This is an example of how the third platform uses and extends the first.)
