Project Scope & Equipment• Create a 125 acre containment for dredge maintenance
material as well as a habitat for wildlife. Project includes the installation of 6,300 linear feet (1,920 meters) of 30-ft circumference and 3,150 linear feet (960 meters) of 20-ft circumference geotextile tubes.
• For scour protection, 9,450 linear feet (2,880 meters) of a 35-ft wide scour apron was used.
• All fill material for the tubes and anchor tubes was pumped from surrounding area.
• Equipment used for the installation: 8-inch suction dredge, (2) amphibious track hoes, (1) work/storage barge, (1) crew boat.
Manufacturing of Product • Scour Aprons were manufactured from GT500, an engineered
woven polypropylene textile, in a width of 35-feet (10.67 meters) with 4-foot circumference (1.2 meter) anchor tubes integrated into each longitudinal edge. Typical length of the scour aprons were 210 linear feet (64 meters).
• The geotextile containers for the project were produced from GT1000, an engineered woven polyester textile, in a circumference of 30 feet (9.1 meters) and had a typical length of 210 feet (64 meters). Textile sleeve fill ports were fabricated into the containers on 48.5-ft (14.8 meters) centers.
• The top 50% of the containers are covered with a GT500 polypropylene shroud.
