Special General MeetingWe need to hold an SGM in May to ratify some changes to the club’s constitution and hopefully vote in a new Secretary. Please make sure to come to the May meeting and exercise your vote.

Scale Models Wellington (IPMS) Incorporated Special General Meeting

To be held on Wednesday, 27th May 2015

Motion No. 1

Constitution AmendmentAs agreed to at the 2015 AGM, the following amendment will be made to our club’s constitution:

SECTION 5

5 (vii) Family Membership – A maximum of 3 immedi-ate family members containing a mixture of adults and juniors. Family membership will have 1 vote, providing at least one family member is an adult.

Currently:

5 (e) Only membership classes – Member, Retired Member, Life Member have voting rights at General Meetings

Amendment:

5(e) Only membership classes – Member, Retired Member, Life Member and Family Membership have voting rights at General Meetings

Motion No. 2

Constitution AmendmentDue to the Secretary position remaining vacant at the last AGM, the committee has proposed to extend club chequebook signing rights to the entire club executive. At present Section 14(c) states that only the President, Secretary and Treasurer have signing rights.

The proposal is to include the Editor’s position as well. This will eliminate any possible conflicts if the Treasurer and Secretary positions are held by the same person in the future, as the President can only hold this one position. This would leave only two committee members with signing authority

With only two sessions to go plus the July school holidays, most of you will be hard pressed to finish unless you have your build, priming and main coat completed by the end of the June session. For those of you who have spray guns or cans of Tamiya primer at home, I suggest you get your model primed and ready for the main coat before the June session.

Five sets of the Xtra decal sets for the Bae Hawks have been allocated but there are still plenty to choose from for those of you who missed the April session or those contemplating doing more than one kit. The two new double action spray guns will come into their own once the detailed painting begins, particularly with MTB camo schemes.

Ewan and I will be attending The Model Expo in Melbourne from the 6th to the 8th June and will unfortunately not be there for the June session which will be run by Rick, Paul and Tish. So please make sure you are well prepared when you arrive including having all the model parts and your plans with you.

The adults have started their BSK as well and the judging for the adults and junior modellers are both scheduled for 29th July but they won’t be getting any prizes on the night.

Our intermediates hard at work with their BSK building - priming yet to begin.

Speaking of which Ewan and I will are planning to subject ourselves to the madness of the “Model Expo Swop and Sell Melee”, to add to the Junior prize kitty. So the club is looking forward to seeing some really good finished models on the 29th July and we should have something for all of you who have completed models on the table for Judging (hint hint) and not just the prize winners.

The June newsletter will have a full report on the Melbourne Model Expo and I look forward to catching up with all of you again in July.

The list of juniors for each session for 2015 is as follows:

First session 1.00pm to 3.00pm• Fergal, Nevan, Nathan, Harrison, Pierre, Madeline, Fiona, Eric, Connor.

Second session 3.00pm to 5.00pm• Eligh, Jacob, Izack, Samuel, George, Ben, Shaquille, Jared, Cameron, William.

If I have missed anyone or if you would like to change your session time or bring a new member along please give me a call well beforehand, PLEASE let me know by the Friday night before the Saturday session. Please remember that we still have a waiting list and more importantly our helpers all give up their Saturday afternoon to help out.

Please don’t forget your $2.00 GOLD COIN donation for each session and please stick to your allotted time.

Memberships for 2015/16 are now due so make sure that you get your renewals posted to our Treasurer.
