Page 2: CONFERENCE INFORMATIONconference of, by, and for technology-using educators. Our primary mission as an organization is to provide a forum to exchange ideas and practices with technology

Thank you to the presenters, vendors, staff and especially you, the attendee of this technology conference, hosted by the Mid-America Association for Technology in Education (MACE). We welcome you to this celebration of 34 years and the 60th conference, and to this outstanding facility, the campus of Kansas State University and its beautiful Alumni Center. Thank you to the vendors, presenters, and participants of MACE. Without the efforts of countless volunteers, this conference would not exist. This is truly a conference of, by, and for technology-using educators.

Our primary mission as an organization is to provide a forum to exchange ideas and practices with technology experts and leaders in all areas of educational technology. As a group, the MACE Board of Directors takes seriously our responsibility to provide professional development, discussions and hands-on examples of the role of technology education in our schools and the State of Kansas.

Our attendees and presenters come from diverse and varied backgrounds. They are the lifeblood of this conference. For 34 years the common strand to improve by using technology unites us at this conference. We thank you for your willingness to share your vision with us.

Again, welcome, and thank you to everyone involved with the conference. Enjoy the mutual support and learning atmosphere while you take advantage of one of the finest facilities available for promoting technology in education.

CONFERENCE INFORMATION

Welcome

Page 3: CONFERENCE INFORMATIONconference of, by, and for technology-using educators. Our primary mission as an organization is to provide a forum to exchange ideas and practices with technology

Dr. Beeghley is an educational technologist, a blogger, podcaster and expert in using technology to teach social studies with a particular interest in the American Civil War. He has spent eleven years as a technology coordinator, five years supporting educational technology for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, worked as an instructional technologist in higher education and has been an adjunct professor since 2005.

Jim holds a B.S. in Computer Science, an M.S. in Educational Technology and in 2008, he completed his doctoral degree in Instructional Technology where he examined how Pennsylvania teachers are using technology to teach the American Civil War. In addition to his education, Jim has specialized training in Google Apps, SMART Boards, online learning and project management.

Jim frequently gives keynotes, presentations, and leads workshops on numerous topics including digital citizenship, cyberbullying, the Common Core, educational technology, social media and most especially uses of technology to teach social studies. As the father of four children in Catholic school, he also has in depth knowledge of how to help private schools teach students about virtual integrity and how they can maximize their technology investments.

Kevin Case is a practicing school superintendent with 16 years of leadership experiences. Kevin loves to share how leveraging the power of technology can open doors that never seemed possible. In addition to Kevin’s role of superintendent, he is a keynote speaker, consultant, and staff developer who works with schools, students, leadership teams, community members, and school boards. Kevin prides himself in providing districts with customized professional learning opportunities that: help districts develop leadership capacity with a wide range of stakeholder groups, allow school communities to embrace a shared vision for

what they want to accomplish with technology, and allow stakeholders to identify and move past barriers that are impeding progress. Kevin (@InmanSuperC) and Inman Schools (@InmanSchools and Inman Schools on Facebook) are actively working to share their story through the use of Social Media. Kevin helps teachers, administrators and board members understand the importance of leveraging the the power of social media to build their social media presence and attract positive attention to their schools while helping educators build powerful Professional Learning Networks (PLNs). Under Kevin’s leadership, Inman Schools was the first school in Kansas to become a 1-1 iPad district in August 2011. Over the past 3 ½ years, seventy plus schools have visited Inman to gain a better understanding of a successful 1-1 environment. Inman received the honor of becoming an Apple Distinguished Program in November 2012. In November 2014, Kevin was one of 115 superintendents selected nationally to attend the #FutureReady Superintendent’s Summit in Washington, DC.
