INSPECTION CONSULTING & SERVICES

OUR COMPANYOur goal is to bring the new idea and solutionto future of world business.

The entity was formed in March 2017 to service the needs of existing and new clients within the petrochemical, power generation, mining, transport and steel fabrication industries. We offer conventional and advanced NDT and Inspection services throughout South Africa and neighbouring countries. Inspection Consulting and Services is a Level 1 BEE contributor with 100% black

ownership and management. Our team, headed up by Nolan Naidoo, have over 100 years of combined experience, both locally and internationally, in the NDT and Inspection field. The team has worked on projects for organisations such as SASOL (1, 2 & 3), ESKOM, TRANSNET, CHEVRON, PETRO SA, ENGEN, SAPREF as well as several fabricators and engineers.

Our vision is to develop a strong foothold in South Africa and venture into other Southern African countries.

Our services conform to the standards as per ISO 9001:2008. It is our aim to develop sustainable relationships with our clients by offering a comprehensive range of services.

SAFETYAt Inspection Consulting and Services, we fully comply with the OHS Act and embrace a safe working environment for both our employees and clients.

CORE SERVICES

In-Service Inspection of pressure equipment - PER

• Pressure vessels• Steam Generators • Piping• Cross country pipe line systems• Drying cylinders • Pressure equipment safety devices• Categorization of pressure equipment to SANS 347 requirements• Hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure test• CUI (Corrosion Under Insulation) surveys on pressure equipment• Non classified vessels and piping systems• Online surveillance • Mechanical maintenance • Shutdown project management New Fabrication and modification of pressure equipment - PER

• Pressure vessels• Steam Generators• Piping• Cross country pipe lines• Pressure equipment safety devices• Repairs and modification compliance of pressure equipment to SANS 347 requirements• Design review• Witness of hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests• Export and import inspections compliance• Steam Generator safety system evaluations as per “SIL” Safety Integrity Level Rating

Due Diligence – Pressure Equipment

• We perform technical investigation determining design status, integrity reliability and legal compliance with detailed documented evaluation processes on behalf of potential investors or owners of Chemical,

INSPECTION SERVICESPetrochemical, Paper and pulp infrastructure and include the following processes:

• Pressure equipment conformity assessments to SANS 347• Structural design reviews and General Arrangement evaluations• Detailed integrity inspections supplemented with Non Destructive

Tests • Pressure equipment and piping dimensional surveys with laser and UT equipment

Categorization of Pressure Equipment

• Perform compliance audits on Pressure equipment to PER – Pressure Equipment Regulations • Specialize in Categorization of Pressure Equipment to SANS 347 requirements• Fabrication, Modification, Repair and Maintenance contractor certification based on SANS 347 requirements

In-service inspections of above ground storage tanks as per API 653 checklist

* visual inspection, tank shell crawling, RT on small bore nozzles & UT on over 3” nozzles to verify and confirm any wall loss to the piping appurtenances, roof inspections (fixed and floating), as well as evaluating of any tank history that can be sourced in order to compile a detailed analysis of the data for Tmin calculations and projected remaining life of the shell and roof

- Out of service inspections of above ground storage tanks as per API 653 (Annex C)

* visual inspection, MFL floor mapping, Vacuum Box testing, roof inspections (fixed and floating - Pontoon visuals and testing), as well as evaluating of any tank history that can be sourced in order to compile a projected remaining life of the floor as well as corrosion rate from either top or bottom side of the floorBased on the above mentioned we can develop a complete report with API compliant recommendations for any and all possible repairs and maintenance to ensure your storage tank is suitable for service for its desired run length.

TANKAGE INSPECTION (API)

X-rays are used to produce images of objects using a detector that is sensitive to radiation, such as film. The test object is placed between the radiation source and detector. The thickness and density of the material that X-rays must penetrate affects the amount of radiation reaching the detector. This variation in radiation produces an image on the detector that often shows internal features of the test object.

RADIOGRAPHIC TESTING (RT)

LIMITATIONSSafety HazardTime Consuming

ADVANTAGES • Can be used to inspect virtually all materials • Detects surface and subsurface defects • Ability to inspect complex shapes and multi layered structures without disassembly.• Minimum part preparation is required

High frequency sound waves are sent into a material by use of a transducer. The sound waves travel through the material and are received by the same transducer or a second transducer. The amount of energy transmitted or received and the time the energy is received are analysed to determine the presence of flaws. Changes in material properties can also be measured.

ADVANTAGES • Depth of penetration for flaw detection or measurement is superior to other methods • Only single sided access is required • Provides distance information• Minimum part preparation is required

LIMITATIONS• No permanent visual image• Time Consuming

ULTRASONIC TESTING (UT)

Penetrant solution is applied to the surface of a pre-cleaned component. The liquid is pulled into surface breaking defects by capillary action. Excess Penetrant material is carefully cleaned from the surface. A developer is applied to pull the trapped penetrant back to the surface where it is spread out and forms an indication. The indication is much easier to see than the actual defect.

DYE-PENETRANT INSPECTION (DPI)

LIMITATIONS• Surface test only• No permanent visual image

ADVANTAGES • Relatively quick test• Result instantly available

A magnetic field is established in a component made from ferromagnetic material. The magnetic lines of force travel through the material and exit and re-enter the material at the poles. Defects such as cracks or voids cannot support as much flux, and force some of the flux outside of the part. Magnetic particles distributed over the component will be attracted to areas of flux leakage and produce a visible indication.

ADVANTAGES • Relatively quick test• Result instantly available

LIMITATIONS• Surface test only• No permanent visual image

Heat Treatment

Wall Thickness

This service determines whether the material

is of the same metallurgical properties

after stress of the material.

We review designs of an engineered system or

component as set out in documented standards.

Our design review scope covers structures components, pressure vessels, pipelines, and

safety systems.

We provide technical and detailed drawings

and calculations of statutory pressure

vessel equipment, water and petrochemical

pipelines, and new build fabrications across all of our associated

industries.

Heat treatment is an operation or combination of

operation involving heating and cooling

of metals or alloys in its solid state order to obtain certain physical

and mechanical properties.

This service determines the wall thickness of

materials. These tests are normally carried out

to determine wear on piping, while in service.

ADDITIONALSERVICES

“Quality is never an accident; it is always

the result of high intention, sincere

effort, intelligent direction and skillful

execution; it represents the wise choice

of many alternatives
