A Beautiful Day on Okauchee

Dan diving for Donna’s hatDave, Dan, Vance & Jim

The gods of boating smiled on us once more. Twenty of MBC boat enthusiats ventured outto Okauchee Lake for a perfect day of boating. Leaving the Golden Mast docks at 12:30 P.M.,we circumnavigated the lake before making a mid afternoon break at The Hideaway Bar andGrill. Thoroughly refreshed, the group ventured back out on the waters for further exploration.Sneaking under the Lake Drive bridge by Foolery’s, we hit the smaller section of Okaucheeand made it through the channel to Upper Oconomowoc Lake before heading back to dock.Happy hour and dinner followed at The Golden Mast. Another great day in the books. Somethoughts for next year, perhaps launch at the public launch and hit one of the other Okaucheefine dinner establishments, or maybe even pick another lake. Big Cedar comes to mind. CaptainDave (Okauchee Lake has 1187 acres of surface water with a maximum depth of 94’).

ScuttlebuttBonnie Merryfield and

Denis Malloy have bothbecome published authors!

Bonnie Merryfield’sbook, “So Now You’re aWidow…Tips, Advice,…and Stories from Widows to Widows”, has beenaccepted for publication and will be going intoproduction as soon as the pre-productionprocess is completed! Bonnie used her insightsas a recent widow and those of thirty-fourwomen she interviewed in Wisconsin andFlorida to share what they believe is importantfor widows over fifty to know as they begin thisnew phase of their lives. Once production iscompleted, the book will be available throughAmazon (Kindle), Barnes & Noble (Nook), andin PDF and hardcopy versions. It will also beavailable through Outskirtspress.com. Bonniewill notify us when the book is ready forpurchase.

Denis Molloy’s book “Eat Local Anywhere”is available on Amazon via Kindle Unlimited.Denis writes, “A few years ago I took somewriting courses from a couple in Florida. Theytold me to write about something I knew andpublish it for the heck of it. We travel a lot andare always looking for moderately pricedrestaurants that represent the area we are in. SoI went about developing a method ofinterviewing locals to see where they would eatwhen they were working.

My book (Denis’s) on Amazon is called"EatLocal Anywhere".

I accumulated about fifteen restaurants inEurope and South America that could becounted on to serve reproducible meals for thelocal traffc.

Scuttlebutt The book may not be a literary triumph,

but it was fun getting published. The researchwas a real treat also.

About three years ago I self-published onAmazon. If you self-publish 80% of theprofits go to the author, as opposed to lettinga publishing house handle it and they get the80%.

I intend to add to this book but have not yet.Just last night in Newport, Rhode Island we

uncovered a new candidate. It was seafoodrepresentative of this old Navy seaport.

Best regards, Denis Molloy”In more news Scott and Barb Burke have

adopted to choose the “Life of Riley” and havesold their house and are building at “The Glenat Cedar Creek” where the association takescare of everything outside of the front door.Looks like they might be homeless for sometime. Anyone have an appliance box or twoto lend them?

Judy and Dave are expanding out of theircomfort zone and traveling to Barcelona andthen continuing on to a Southern France RiverCruise later this month.

In SympathyThis past month has been a

sad one for MBC members Camand Tom McElwee, Wayne andLynne Happel, and Sue Ring-Wagner and Leo Wagner.

Cam’s mother, Wayne’s twin sister, andSue’s father all passed away.

The heartfelt condolences of all MBCmembers go out to these families. Please keepthem in your thoughts and prayers during thissad time.

Update on the MBC Lost MooringSeveral attempts to find our lost mooring,

including hiring a diver funded by one of ourmembers, has failed to locate it. Since thenDick Gabowski has found the GPS data andsays, “It is slightly south of the second tree thatis south of the stairway going down to the beachin then ten feet of water....deeper now.

The GPS data: North 425897, West 875217”If anyone can plot this on their GPS and go

there and drop a marker on the spot, we can seeif we can drop a magnet on the wheel andrestore our mooring. Call Dave 414-339-2555
