COMMODORE’S LOG
RESERVATIONS: We all need to make reservations every time we plan to have a meal at the Club…brunch, lunch, and dinner, the occasional unplanned drop-in notwithstanding. This is so important for the kitchen staff to prepare the food and for Shawn to have the correct number of servers on hand. If we can do this consistently, our dining experience will be greatly enhanced.D J DANCE PARTY: The singles table for this popular evening has been revived! It will be hosted by Kiki Rohr and Bill O’Neal. Just make your reservation with Kim, and tell her that you wish to be seated at the singles table. And ladies, don’t be shy about approaching the hosts. They are here for your dancing pleasure, and they can’t always find you and know that you would like to dance. Just let them know at the beginning of the evening where you are sitting.NEW MENUS: The main menu will be refreshed beginning September 3rd . The mainstays will continue, and the other offerings will change out every two weeks. The kitchen staff is committed to exciting you with creative offerings and pleasing you with the quality and consistency of your dining experience. The Happy Hour Buffet needs some variety. In September there will be a variety of offerings, Asian, Mexican, Italian, and Good Old USA.Beginning in October when the club will reopen on Wednesday nights, the Wednesday dinner will be Home Cookin’ Night, with a rotating selection of your hometown favorites, such as fried chicken, liver and onions, meatloaf, fish and chips, and chicken pot pie. This will be served with soup or salad and a small dessert for a modest price. No other food will be available. As we get closer to the completion of the pergola, Shawn is dreaming up new ways to take advantage of our unique river view dining venue.NAUTICAL NEWS:FRIENDSHIP: Our club pontoon boat is available for rental by any and all members. It is reserved with Irene in the office. What a terrific way to entertain family and friends with a scenic voyage to a restaurant for lunch or a fishing trip. At $150 per day + gas it is the best deal in town too.BLESSING OF THE FLEET: Because Vero Beach is still celebrating its Centennial Year, the Blessing of the Fleet will be a very special occasion again. We are hoping to surpass last year’s registration of over 50 boats, both powered and non. So captains, save the date of October 12th and plan to join in this festive occasion, starting with the Captain’s Meeting on Friday evening with free drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
