You can find your LicenseName and License Code in yourLicense document that accompanied this product. You must keep your licenseidentifiersconfidentialfromanyoneoutsideyourschoolororganization.

StartingCoachthefirsttimeWhen Coach 7 is started the first time it asks tospecify:1. the preferred language of the Coach user

interface - select the language from the list.Notice that the user interface language canalsobesetinCoachviathemainmenuoptionOptions>SwitchLanguage(presentonlyinSeniorstudentandAuthormode).

2. the license information - type inyour License Name and LicenseCodeexactlyastheyappearinyourLicensedocument.ConfirmwithOK.Notice that this is doneperuser; ifanother user will start Coach againhe/she will be asked to enter thelicenseinformationagain.


4.Installationforalluseraccounts(forsystemadministrators)ToinstallCoach7withthesamesettingsforallusersonaPC,systemadministratorscanmakeuseofdifferentoptions.TheseoptionsshouldbeaddedduringexecutingtheMSI-installation.UseCommandPrompt(cmd.exe)andexecute(asadministrator)thefollowingcommand:

LANGUAGECODE=XX SetsthedefaultlanguageoftheCoachuserinterface.UsethevalueENforEnglish,NLforDutch,DEforGerman,ESforSpanishetc.BydefaultthislanguagecodeissettoXX,thefirsttimeCoachisstartedtheuserinterfacelanguageneedstobeselected.

ProvidesalocationoftheSchoolProjectsfolder.InthislocationCoachfilescreatedbydifferentusersarestored.

STARTLOCATION=2 ActivatestheuseoftheSchoolProjectsfolder.Whensettovalue2thentheSchoolProjectsfolderwillbeusedasthedefaultlocation.

/quiet Executeasilentinstallation.

Coach copies theCoachLocal.ini file1into the ‘MyDocuments’ user folder the firsttimeCoach7 isstartedorwhenthis file ismissing. Inthis filethepreferredhardwaresettingsarestored.Thesesettingsarestoredperuser.

5.StartingCoach7After installation thegroupCMACoach 7willbe created in theWindowsStartmenuand a Coach 7 icon will be placed on the desktop. The CMA Coach 7 group has thefollowingshortcuts:Author: This icon starts Coach 7 in

Author mode. This mode isprotectedbytheAuthorkey.ToenterAuthormode, log inwiththe default Author key ‘0000’.ThisAuthorkeycanbechangedfor your school via the mainmenuoptionOptions>ChangeAuthorKey.

Utilities:Firmware-update:Thisshortcutstartstheprogramtoupdateinternalsoftware(firmware)ofCMAinterfaces.MountVinciLab:Thisshortcutstartstheprogram,whichmountsVinciLabasnetworklocationandcreatestheaccesstotheVinciLab’suserfolder‘MyFiles’inWindowsExplorerunderNetworkLocation.UnmountVinciLab:Thisshortcutstartstheprogram,whichremovestheaccesstotheVinciLab’suserfolder‘MyFiles’inWindowsExplorer.

TostartCoach7:1. Click theCoach7 iconon thedesktop.Coach starts andwill openActivities in the

userlevelspecifiedintheActivity.Or2. Double-click a Coach Activity file (*.cma7) or a Coach Result file (*.cmr7). Coach

directly opens the selected Activity or Result in the user level specified in theActivity.

Languagesettings By default the user interface language of Coach is not set,the language code is XX. With this setting, the first timeCoachisstartedthelanguageneedstobeselected.Toavoidthisselectionyoucansetthelanguageforallusersin the Coach.ini file (located in the folderContents/MacOS/Coach.ini inCoach7apppackage)afterCoach installationhasbeen finished.Set the languagecodetoENforEnglish,NLforDutchlanguage,DEforGerman,ESforSpanish,etc.

When Coach is started for the first time it copies a number of files into the folder../Users/<UserName>/Documents/CMA/Coach7. The user settings are made peruserandstoredoutsideoftheapp.


5.StartingCoach7TostartCoach7• ClicktheCoach7App(bydefaultlocated)inApplications.• CoachstartsandwillopenActivitiesintheuserlevelspecifiedintheActivity.TostartCoach7inAuthormode• StartCoach7App.• Press the Login button in the Main

toolbar.• Select Author in the user level drop-

IV.HARDWARESUPPORTFORWINDOWSCOMPUTERS

1.CLab,€Laband€SenseCMAinterfacessuchasCLAB,€Laband€SenseareequippedwithHID2USBforwhichastandarddriverisavailableinWindows.Thedriverinstallationisautomaticallyexecutedthe first time such an interface is connected to the computer and no administratorrightsareneededtoinstalltheseinterfacedriversunderallWindowsversions.Insomespecialcasesspecialdriverinstallationsareneeded;thesecasesaredescribedbelow.

2.CoachLabII+TherearetwomodelsoftheCoachLabII+interfaceavailableonthemarket:• oldermodels,soldbeforeFebruary2011,withnostickerorstickerwithSAG08XXXXX

orSAG09XXXXX,and• newermodels,soldafterFebruary2011,withstickerSAG10XXXXXorhigher.ThenewermodelisequippedwithHID2USBforwhichastandarddriverisavailableinWindows.3There are no administrator rights needed to install the driver under allWindowsversions.For the older model of CoachLabII+ a low-level driver has to be installed. For thispurpose, separate MSI installations are available, see ‘4. Installation of low-leveldrivers’.Ifa recentCoach7orCoach6versionwas installedonyourPCandtheoldmodelofCoachLab II+ has already been used before, you do not have to install the low-leveldrivers.HowcanIrecognizewhichmodelofCoachLabII+Ihave?When a new CoachLab II+ model (sticker SAG10XXXXX or higher) is connected to acomputer then it is recognized and displayed as HID Device in the section HumanInterfaceDevicesofWindowsDeviceManager.WhenanoldCoachLab II+model (withnostickerorstickerwithSAG08XXXXXorSAG09XXXXX)isconnectedtoacomputerthenitisrecognizedanddisplayedinthesectionPorts(COM&LPT).Tocheckwhichmodelyouhave:• MakesurethattheCoachLabII+driverisinstalledonyourcomputer.• GotoControlPanelandstartWindowsDeviceManager.• ConnectyourCoachLabII+toyourcomputer.• Checkunderwhichsection,HumanInterfaceDevicesLookorPorts(COM&LPT),

CoachLabII+isdisplayed.IfinthesectionHumanInterfaceDevicesthenyouhaveanewmodelofCoachLabII+,ifinthesectionPorts(COM&LPT)thenyouhaveanoldmodelofCoachLabII+.

IfarecentCoach7versionwasinstalledonyourPCand€Motionhasalreadybeenusedbefore,youdonothavetoinstallthelow-leveldrivers.

4.Installationoflow-leveldriversThelow-leveldriversaredigitallysignedwiththeCMAlicensecertificate.Thiscertificatemustbeinstalledpriortotheinstallationoflow-leveldrivers.

Choose the correct installation file for your PC. There are three installations fordifferenttypesofPCprocessors:x86–forIntelbased32BitsProcessors.x64–forIntelBased64BitsProcessors(alsoknownasx64,x86_64enAMD64).i64–forItanium64BitsProcessors(alsoknownasIA-64).Usex86for32-bitsOSsystemsandx64for64-bitsOSsystems,unlessyouaresurethatyourPChasa64-bitItaniumprocessor.TheinstallationchecksitselfifithasbeeninstalledonaPCwith"rightprocessor".

5. Installthelow-leveldrivers(administratorrightsneeded).6. Forasilentinstallation,youcanspecifyfromacommandprompt(runas

administrator),thefollowingcommand:msiexec/i<MSIfile>/quiet

7. Noticethatafterthelow-leveldrivershavebeeninstalledthecomputerhastoberestarted.

8. Connectaninterfacetoyourcomputer;thedriveroftheconnectedinterfacewillbeautomaticallyinstalled(noadministratorrightsneeded).

5.MoLabWhenMoLab is connected to aWindows 7 (or higher) computer the first time it isdetected and the computer automatically starts installing the device driver software.After this installation is successfully finished (device name Anchor USB EZ-Link Cableinstalled)WindowsautomaticallydownloadsandstartsinstallationofWindowsMobileDeviceCenterneededforcommunicationbetweenMoLabandthecomputer.

4TheKB2921916hotfixisnotinstalledviaWindowsUpdate.ThishotfixisanadditiontoKB3033929,whichisinstalledbyWindowsUpdate.


6.VinciLabIn most cases the driverinstallation is automaticallyexecutedthefirsttimeVinciLabisconnectedtotheUSBportofthecomputer. After successfulinstallation VinciLab is shownunder Network adapters (inWindowsDeviceManager).If thedriver is not automatically installedornot successfully installed then thedriverhastobe installedmanually inWindowsDeviceManagerbyspecifyingthe locationoftheUSBVinciLabdriversetupfiles.ToinstallUSBdrivermanually• GotoControlPanelandstartWindowsDeviceManager.• RightclicknotcorrectlyinstalledVinciLab(markedbyyellowexclamationsign)and

selectUpdateDriverSoftware.• SelectBrowsemycomputerfordriversoftware.• BrowsetoProgramFiles(x86)\CMA\Coach6\Common\EthernetCableDriver

location.• ClickNext.Thedriversoftwarewillbeinstalled.• AftersuccessfulinstallationthemessageDevicedriversoftwareinstalled

successfullywillappear.

IV.HARDWARESUPPORTFORMACCOMPUTERS

Coach7forMacsupportstheCMAinterfaces:CLAB,€Lab,€SenseandVinciLabwithoutdriverinstallation.ThefirsttimesuchaninterfaceisconnectedtotheMACcomputeritwillworkdirectly.ForoldmodelsofCoachLabII+:modelssoldbeforeFebruary2011,withnosticker(frombefore2008)orstickerwithSAG08XXXXXorSAG09XXXXXthespecialdriverisneeded.Download,atwww.cma-science.nl/enCoach7,thelow-leveldriversforOSXandinstallit.ThefollowinginterfacesarenotsupportedinCoach7forMac:• OldmodelsofCoachLabIIwithserialconnection,• €Motion,• €Lab+€Motion,• MoLab.


V.UPDATINGANINTERFACEINTERNALSOFTWARE

1.UpdatingfirmwareofCLAB,CoachLabII+,€Lab,and€SenseNOTE:ThisfunctionalityisavailableonlyforWindowscomputers.Tomakeuseofnew featuresavailable inCoach it isnecessary toupdate firmwareofinterfaces. The Coach program recognizes automatically when a connected to thecomputerinterfaceneedstobeupdatedandoffersdirectupdate.FirmwareupdatecanalsobeperformedviatheutilityprogramFirmwareUpdate.ToupdatefirmwarewhenworkingwithCoach7• WhenCoach recognizes that a connected interface needs to be updated then the

followingmessageisdisplayed:

• ClickYestostarttheFirmwareUpdateprogramfortheconnectedinterface.• NextstepsaresimilartoupdatingwiththeFirmwareUpdateanddescribedbelow.ToupdatefirmwarewithUpdateFirmwareprogram• Start the Firmware Update program via Start > All Programs > CMA Coach 7 >

Utilities>FirmwareUpdate.• Selecttheinterfaceforupdatingbypressingthebuttonwiththedesiredinterface.

Notice that the CLAB and CoachLab II+ interfaces should be powered during thisprocess.

• PressUpdatetostarttheupdateprocess.• Theprogramselectsthecorrectversionofthefirmwarefile.Incasemorefirmware

filesarelistedselectthelatestfirmware.ClickOK.• Theupdateprocess starts.At theendof thisprocess theconnected interfacewill

resetitself.• Whenthefirmwareisupdatedsuccessfullythenthemessageappears:Thefirmware

hasbeenupdatetoversion#.• ClickOKtoaccept.

Note: In rare cases the reset of €Lab/€Sense will not work properly, the interface LED remains on and there is no communication between the computer and the interface. In that case you have to restart computer to continue working with €Lab/€Sense.


2.UpdatingMoLab

NOTE:ThisfunctionalityisavailableonlyforWindowscomputers.

ToupdateCoachCEonMoLabMoLabUpdateutilityprogramcanbeused.The latestupdate is available at the CMA website www.cma-science.nl ((Support > ProductSupport>MoLab).

3.UpdatingVinciLabTheoperatingsystemandallapplicationsofVinciLabcanbeupdatedvia theVinciLabUpdate server available via a Wi-Fi connection. The detailed update procedure isincluded in the VinciLab package and available at CMA website www.cma-science.nl(Support>ProductSupport>VinciLab).
