Dear Friends,

WELCOME BACK! The RECTORY OFFICE is open for business, we ask that you call the office before coming and remember to wear your mask!

We are also using this time to catch up with technology in several of the following ways:

COMING SOON! Church of Saint Joseph WEBSITE will have a new look and be easier to navigate!

FLOCKNOTE: We are now using the FLOCKNOTE Email and Text communication program for all parishioners (if we have email/cell phones on file). Emails will come from the parish email address eg. ChurchofSt.Joseph/Aston <[email protected]>. For all those who wish to receive information from the parish it is easy to sign up. We have a link on our parish website for those who would like to join our mailing list OR click https://churchofstjosephaston.flocknote.com/group/451635/addToGroupFromOutside

FACEBOOK: CHURCH OF ST JOSEPH You will find all the events of the parish: the Livestream Mass, Formation opportunities and Motivational postsas well as music videos are posted.

PLEASE NOTE: In building our official CSJ page, we came across another Facebook page that is NOT our OFFICIAL page, though it has posts that pertain to our parish. It is named: St. Joseph Catholic Church. We are not the originator nor the administrator, therefore we cannot take it down or remove the page. If anyone knows who the administrator of this page is please let us know so that we can arrange for its removal, in order to avoid confusion

FINANCIAL SUPPORT: We are most grateful for all who are able to continue to support the parish financially. Presently we are recieving on average about half of our normal Sunday Collection.

ONLINE GIVING: We are very grateful for the parishioners who have recently signed up for ONLINE GIVING. If you are interested in enrolling in ONLINE GIVING the link is on the parish website listed above. It has made a difference financially and we are able to keep our heads above water, maintain the parish facilities and even assist families in need. We also ask that you reach out to us if you know of a fellow parishioner who could use our help.

We have been warmed by those who support us prayerfully, have reached out to us with meals and your kind, caring notes. We have been touched by the response in donations to the “Red Bins” and donations to the parish and the St. Joseph “Reach Out” supporting parishioners facing financial hardships. Some of our parishioners have already made very generous donations. We thank them for their generosity and thoughtfulness. You are clearly a people who have put their faith into action and it is evident you are concerned for your neighbors. It is clear you are paving the path to be the people that God wants us and needs us to be!

Please pray for me as I do for you! Msgr. Vogan

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. Our readings are focused on the gifts of the Word of God and the Eucharist. This feast has deep significance to those of us living the stewardship way of life. Why? As stewards, we recognize that all that we are and all that we have been given are gifts from God. We are called to treasure these gifts and use them for God’s glory. Our Solemnity today and the readings for this week invite us to a deeper gratitude and better stewardship of the two sublime gifts of God’s Word and the Eucharist. In our first reading from Deuteronomy, Our Heavenly Father (such a good teacher) reminds us that just as we experience physical hunger from lack of food, we become spiritually malnourished through lack of feeding on the Word of God. It is that important. And, just as the Word of God is vital to our spiritual nourishment, so, too is the nourishment of the Eucharist. Jesus could not make this any clearer to us: “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.” Without the Eucharist, we die spiritually. But through the Eucharist, we experience a taste of heaven right now — “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.” As Christian stewards, we must recognize that in the gifts of the Word of God and the Eucharist, we have everything we need to sustain us in this world and guide us to heaven. Let us resolve to steward these precious gifts well with all our hearts, always.
