Step 1: State your purposeEveryone’s ‘prime purpose’ is simply to be their best, in and of their self. A true purpose, unlike a goal which has a date, is an ongoing journey. State your ‘prime purpose’, such as ‘I am being my best’ – or a ‘life purpose’ like ‘I am a great teacher, worker or parent’.

Write your statement in the central box of the left-brain Life Mapping template using a maximum of ten words as an affirmation using personal, positive and present tense.

Step 2: Who are you being?In any given moment, regardless of the situation or circumstance we face, we all have a choice over who we are being. Imagine now ‘being at your best’ in any situation past or present, and notice who you are mentally: your main quality of character, such as focused, confident or positive.

Now state it, as before, written in a first-person, positive and present tense affirmation, such as ‘I am patient’.

Now, repeat the same exercise this time focusing on your main ‘way of being’ emotionally. Trust the first quality that comes to you, such as passionate, brave or caring, and remember to state it as if you already have it, for example ‘I am loving’.

Next, notice your main quality physically as in, fit, healthy or energetic, and as before write an affirmation such as ‘I am vibrant’.

Continue moving around the Mandala to the material and state your main way of being for this area, as in ‘I am abundant, prosperous or balanced’.

Now socially, when being your best, what is your main quality of character in your relationships? Honesty, openness, integrity? Again, write your affirmation, such as ‘I am committed’.

Finally spiritually, what is your main way of being in this area, for example ‘I am, peaceful, compassionate or faithful’.

Step 3: A picture of you The final step of creating your Life Map is to place your second template at the side of the first, and begin to draw simple pictures or symbols that mirror your written statements. Your pictures do not need to be masterpieces, in fact no one else has to be able to recognise them. Simple stick men or symbols will do. However, please use lots of colour as this is an excellent right-brain stimulant and creates a powerful command to your subconscious about who you choose to be.

By creating your Life Map you will powerfully command your subconscious to help you become the person you choose to be. Being your best will naturally lead you to do your best and have your best results. Capture the essence of your personal power now by using this fun and simple system.

Sign it, see it, say it and believe it. Use your central Purpose Statement as a mantra that you repeat to yourself throughout the day for a week. Make a commitment to live your Life Map by signing it, placing it somewhere highly visible, and looking at it once a day so that it continues to command your subconscious.
