I’ve been sent this afternoon some figures showing our Club’s giving to Foundation for the year. As you know I’m a fan of Foundation – it is our charity and has one of the lowest administrative overheads of any foundation in the world. Whilst per capita our Club is higher than the District per capita average, we are still down from last year, so now is the time to make a donation to Foundation. The paperwork to make a donation is elsewhere in the Chatter. A reminder that the Club has pledged $7500 from the Service account – up $500 from our traditional figure of $6000 and an additional $1000 in lieu of giving our speakers gifts. A date for diaries is the upcoming Club Forum on 11 April, a little later than planned but the earliest chance to get Warwick Cavell, a member of the District Team and a great facilitator who has helped many clubs explore where they, where they want to get to and how to make it happen. And remember Cluster Meeting this week bring partners, guests, significant Rotary-others, etc and make a real occasion of the night! Cheers, Rod What’s on this week? Rod’s Ruminations

Hi to all,

Firstly, thanks to all the Team

Leaders (or their reps) for the

presentations last week on what

we have achieved thus far in

service activities and where we

are headed for the next 6 months.

I’ve been sent this afternoon

some figures showing our Club’s

giving to Foundation for the year.

As you know I’m a fan of

Foundation – it is our charity and

has one of the lowest

administrative overheads of any

foundation in the world. Whilst

per capita our Club is higher than

the District per capita average,

we are still down from last year,

so now is the time to make a

donation to Foundation. The

paperwork to make a donation is

elsewhere in the Chatter. A

reminder that the Club has

pledged $7500 from the Service

account – up $500 from our

traditional figure of $6000 and

an additional $1000 in lieu of

giving our speakers gifts.

A date for diaries is the upcoming

Club Forum on 11 April, a little

later than planned but the

earliest chance to get Warwick

Cavell, a member of the District

Team and a great facilitator who

has helped many clubs explore

where they, where they want to

get to and how to make it happen.

And remember Cluster Meeting

this week – bring partners,

guests, significant Rotary-others,

etc and make a real occasion of

the night!

Cheers, Rod

What’s on this week?

Cluster Meeting

Dr Jody Evans - from

the Melbourne Business

School speaking on:

“The power of nudges: how marketers

influence us every day”

And what’s on next

week?

David Sia - A personal

journey from refugee to success in Australia

David came to Australia as a refugee. He will share his journey of escaping a country, being at a refugee camp, on a boat, eventually sponsored to Australia.

This is a story about building a better life and how it has shaped his business.

CHADSTONE CRAFT MARKET held Saturday 10th February ‘18

Our first market for the year saw over half of our Clubs members roll up and assist in the day’s activities. There were seven new stallholders all who agreed that the friendly welcome & enthusiastic support from our members was greatly appreciated. A number confirmed that they would be returning. At the end of the day our efforts were vindicated with an above average financial result and a fun day for all of us.

Stallholders were asked to contact our new manager Chris D with any comments or ideas on how best to improve our market. There was a unanimous call for a greater effort in generating foot traffic as well as more effective location signage. These issues as well as other, will be addressed by the Executive Craft Market Committee.

FAMILY FUN DAY (FFD18) Sunday 25th March ‘18

Planning has been underway since September last year. Support from our Club members, spouses, partners & friends has been outstanding.

URGENT CALL FOR BOOKS & SILENT AUCTION ITEMS/SERVICES for our FFD18

Two of our most profitable stalls are Books & Silent Auction. Both require active support from our Club members in the procurement of second hand books & suitable items/services for our silent auction.

Books should be directed to Chris D and Silent Auction items to Janet M or Tracey F.

FAMILY FUN DAY (FFD18) AFTER PARTY - Sunday 25th March ‘18

Hein and Veronica have once again invited us all to their home for the traditional "after Carnival Party”. The Club is most appreciative of their ongoing generosity and financial support of our fundraising activities.
