Everyday Stewardship The ancient Greek dramatist, Euripides, wrote, "No one can confidently say that he will still be living tomorrow." We seldom focus on that reality and often act like we are confident of a tomorrow. However, we all know names of those who died suddenly, maybe in tragedy or simply in the quiet of sleep. Calling those names to mind will probably still not force most of us to contem-plate our own mortality tonight before placing our head on the pillow, but perhaps it should. We don't need to obsess about dying or fear the un-known, but realizing the gift of today and reflecting on the possibility that it may be our last day can cause us to act differently. We might forgive more easily, argue less, and embrace one another. Rather than procrasti-nate, we might act now. We could become more mind-ful of our surroundings, see the needs in people, and reach out to those who are lost. I write these Everyday Stewardship reflections every Sunday. You might read them in your parish bulletin, on a website, or in social media every Sunday. Just in case this is the last Sunday you ever have a chance to read these reflections, what is God calling you to do now before it's too late. If you are still here next Sunday after taking all this seriously, you might wonder at what it was to live more fully and to give of yourself more freely. Don't let a single day pass you by without truly loving others and your God. One thing you can be con-fident about: This day will never come again.

La Corresponsabilidad Diaria El dramaturgo de la antigua Grecia, Eurípides, escribió: "Nadie puede decir con certeza que vivirá mañana." Po-cas veces nos enfocamos en esa realidad y muchas ve-ces actuamos como si el mañana fuera una cosa cierta. Todos conocemos a alguien que ha muerto de repente; quizás en una tragedia o simplemente en la paz de su sueño. Aunque uno piense en esas personas, muchos no pensarán en su propia mortalidad antes de irse a dormir. Quizás uno sí lo deba considerar. No tenemos que obsesionarnos con la posibilidad de mo-rir o el miedo de lo desconocido, pero sí debemos darnos cuenta que hoy es un regalo y reflexionar en la posibilidad de que hoy podría ser nuestro último día puede causar que actuemos de diferente forma. Quizás perdonáramos de manera más fácil, discutiéramos menos y amáramos con más ardura. En vez de dejarlo para el último momen-to, tal vez debemos actuar ahora. Se lo hacemos proba-blemente estaríamos más conscientes de nuestros alrede-dores, ver las necesidades de los demás y ayudar a los que están perdidos. Yo escribo estas reflexiones de la Corresponsabilidad ca-da domingo. Quizás usted lo lee en el boletín de su parro-quia, por internet y a través de la media social. En caso de que este sea el último domingo que usted tenga la oportu-nidad de leer estas reflexiones le pregunto: ¿a qué le lla-ma Dios a hacer antes de que sea muy tarde? Si está aquí el próximo domingo después de haber considerado esto con seriedad, quizás se pregunte qué era esa llama-da de Dios. No deje que ningún día pase sin verdadera-mente amar a los demás ni a su Dios. Una cosa por segu-ro es: este día nunca lo tendrá otra vez .

Thanksgiving Thank you, Lord, for the bread; you give us to appease hunger.

For the laughter of the child, that becomes caress. By the sea and the cloud. For the gift of feeling life fully. Thank you for every hour, even if not all are equally good. Thank you for the courage of the butterfly that lights without awareness of its miracle, a dream wick. Thank you, Lord, for the won-derful mirrors of our parents and our minds. For the friend-ship that prolongs that serene privilege of being brothers. Thank you for the strong rain, for the benevolent driz-zle, for having put trills and wings on the branches. Thank you for every drop of dew and for the rainbow and for the tree that shines its joy in the fruit. Thank you, Lord, for the yesterday that was set to re-member, for the today we live, and the morning that awaits us with his arms full of mystery. Thank you, through my lips, from my soul, in the name of those who forgot to give it to you, in the name of who we are - and who we will be. Thanks for all eternity. Mensaje del Párroco

Como todos sabemos, el Dia de Acción de Gracias tiene profundas raíces históricas y culturales. La llegada de los peregrinos a Norte América dejo huella para las futu-ras generaciones. De todos los días de fiesta en USA, este es el único que tiene tinte espiritual; es decir, que evoca a pensar en Dios, en la fraternidad humana y a reconocer que no todo depende de nuestro esfuerzo humano. Por favor, asistan a las Misas de Acción de Gracias, de acuerdo al horario ya anunciado. Y demos gracias porque el Señor es maravilloso con nosotros y porque es eterna su misericordia. Demos gracias porque somos una parroquia muy activa. ¿Cómo no dar gracias por tantas obras que Dios nos permite realizar? Demos gracias por la Cuaresma y Pascua que celebramos en el 2018. Por los niños y jóvenes que recibieron los sacra-mentos por primera vez. Por las parejas que recibieron el sacramento. Por los enfermos que frecuentemente visitan nuestros ministros y sacerdotes. Por la compra que la nueva propiedad para la parroquia. Por el festival de verano. Por la ampliación del estacionamiento. Por tantas manos generosas que hacen sándwich dos veces por mes para los desamparados. Porque hemos podido consolar a las familias tristes en los funerales, Porque pudimos hacer la peregrinación a Roma y Tierra Santa. Por el perdón de nuestros pecados... Por la Eucaristía de cada domingo. Doy gracias a Dios por cada uno de ustedes y por tantas cosas buenas que cada uno lleva en su corazón. Les deseo un feliz Dia de Acción de Gracias. Dios los bendiga. Amen.

From the Pastor’s Desk As we all know, Thanksgiving Day has deep historical and cultural roots. The arrival of pilgrims to North Ameri-ca left a mark for future generations. Of all the holidays in the USA, this is the only one that has a spiritual tinge; that is, that evokes us to think about God, in human fra-ternity and to recognize that not everything depends on our human effort. Please attend the Thanksgiving Mass-es, according to the schedule already announced. And we give thanks because the Lord is wonderful to us and because his mercy is eternal. Let's give thanks because we are a very active parish. How can we not give thanks for so many works that God allows us to do? Let's give thanks for the Lent and Easter that we celebrated in 2018. For the children and young people who received the sacraments for the first time. For the couples who received the sacrament marriage. For the home bound who are visited by our ministers and priests. For the purchase of the new property for the parish. For the summer festival. For the extension of the parking lot. For so many generous hands that make sandwiches, twice a month for the homeless. Because we have been able to console sad families at funerals, because we were able to make the pilgrimage to Rome and the Holy Land. For the forgiveness of our sins ... For the Eucharist every Sunday. I give thanks to God for each one of you and for so many good things that each of you carries in your heart. I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. God bless you. Amen.
