It’s that wonderful Italian time of year …It’s Spaghetti Dinner Time!! As you know this is the main fundraiser our club has to earn the funds to support all the wonderful charities we help throughout the year. If not for this event, we would not be able to serve dinners at the Ronald McDonald Houses, support the Boys and Girls Home, or build houses for Habitat for Humanity. We need to sell sponsorships and indi-vidual tickets; the money is out there we just need to ask the people in our community for their support. MEETING NOTES - Jan 15 - Charlie Hatch, PDG of 7710, spoke about the work at The Boys & Girls Home. The newly refurbished Rotary Cottage & this is the only statewide Rotary project in NC. A startling fact is that 1 in 50 children in NC are abused in the 1st three weeks of their life. The B&G Home is working as some 100 kids have been through some part of college. Take time to visit it on Feb 21st. Jan 29 - Lee Ann Frazier, Cardiovas-cular Dept of Wake Med Hospital, Cary NC spoke about the numbers and types of catheterization they do. The main Wake Med Hospital on New Bern Ave does 27,900 catheteriza-tions per year alone !

CCS Interact Club - Interact students started the year on a roll. As usual, they worked the first Saturday of the month at With Love from Jesus in Raleigh, helping distrib-ute food, clothes, and household goods to the needy. About 30 stu-dents worked for three hours and en-joyed using their Spanish skills with some of the guests. Many students brought donations, including several bags of newly knitted baby blankets donated by Kim Smith of Cary-Page Rotary on behalf of Project Linus. On January 16, another couple of dozen students got together to make baby blankets for a Duke Medical Re-lief Team headed to Ghana to teach obstetric skills in a hospital there. The kids constructed 20 two-ply felt blankets. Again, thanks to Kim Smith, Interact sent another two dozen Project Linus blankets along. Interact students also enjoyed tag-ging along with Cary-Page Rotarians to help make and serve dinner at the Ronald MacDonald Houses in Durham and Chapel Hill on January 21. We will have a spaghetti dinner ticket campaign beginning next week, and we're setting our goals high. Thanks, Cary-Page, for the opportunity to raise funds for Interact.
