Last Spring C-P and four other Dist 7710 Clubs submitted a MG application, but it got caught-up in the financial crisis and funding was cutoff by TRF. The District Grants Committee thought it was wonder- ful and tried everything to get it through but to no avail. So we went submitted a brand new MG right after July 1, with all the new officer names from C-P and Danli Club in Hondu- ras. We started in April and took us two months to get Danli names but we pushed and were helped by St. Michael Church committee and their Spanish translators. Again we are awaiting to see IF we will get a MG, as TRF was swamped with re- quests and they cut off funds again. We are again waiting, at this time. CONCERT SINGERS OF CARY - Big doings for Eleni and the Concert Singers as they have been invited to appear with the NC Symphony on Friday, Sept 18 and Satur- day Sept 19 at Meymandi Hall, Progress Energy Center. NOTES from MARK -

The Web Site Committee reports that

they are on target to deliver the Clubs

first web site soon. Things are moving along slowly.

The Summer Enrichment Program for the girls from the Boys & Girls Home of Lake Waccamaw began June 15 and ran through July 13. Seven girls spent time at our meet-ings, at Kim Smith’s home for a cookout and some horse riding, Brian Blum worked on resume development, Susan Joan, Hank, Eleni, Cleve, Chuck M, & Linda S worked on mock interviews for the younger girls and the three older girls. Lots of good Greek and Mexican food was eaten, and Rick Steadman gets kudos for his help with some public speaking !

Cary-Page charter date is June 29 th, 1989

We are 20 +years young

From the Prez - The new Rotary year has just begun and we already have many activities on our calendar. Service has always been an important part of our club and this year we are adding a few new ser-vice projects to our schedule. These projects will allow us to serve in our community as well as an opportu-nity for fellowship. In addition to the service projects, we are going to have several social events throughout the year for our entire Rotary family. I feel it is important for us as a club to not only to get to know our fellow Ro-tarians, but to get to know each other’s families as well. I’m so excited about the coming year and hope our club will continue to strive to be the best we can be and continue to put service above self. Tonya

GALA AUCTION - The Grow The Miracle Gala Auction is very close! This year, more than ever, we all need to help in securing corporate sponsors for this very important fundraising event. Sponsors are a major part of our fund raising effort. Our levels of sponsorship are: $250, $500, $750, $1000, and $2500. All the sponsorships opportuni-ties are outlined on the beautiful brochures that Jim Huggins arranged for us. See Jim or Eleni for copies of the brochure to hand out to your prospects. Also join the other Cary Rotary Clubs on FRIDAY, Sept 18th to watch the Miracle League in action. The 1st game starts at 6 PM and the 2nd at 7 PM. These are the older players and it could get exciting !
