2016 RequestsThis is a reminder that the school cannot honour requestsfrom parents for their child to be taught by a specificteacher All teaching staff members possess thequalifications and accreditation required of them to teachin a Kshy6 setting At this stage we are still unsure of theclass structure for 2016 with new enrolments comingalmost by the day Thank you for your understanding

Wellbeing Policy DraftIn 2016 significant changes to the schoolrsquos StudentWellbeing Policy will be implemented This is in responseto a local recognition that there is limited understandingabout our current lsquorulesrsquo and stated lsquovaluesrsquo and the needfor staff members to consistently seek to resolve issuesrelating to student wellbeing

The newshylook policy will incorporate the Department ofEducationrsquos new Wellbeing Framework for Schoolsspecifically addressing the cognitive social emotionalphysical and spiritual wellbeing of students A smallgroup of teaching staff members helped devise a draft

Teacher Professional DevelopmentNext Wednesday 12 staff members will be beginning anintensive course in Understanding Autism SpectrumDisorder This course will not only assist participantscater for the educational needs of autistic students butwill be beneficial in making appropriate curriculummodifications for all students

Last week all teachers were involved in a professionaldevelopment session where some spectacular studentwork using mobile devices was showcased and teacherslearnt from one another about maximising the use ofdevices to enhance student ownership and engagement

SPORT NEWSWhat a fantastic year it has been for our 2015 BushSchool Tennis Team The Bush School Team usuallyconsists of about 8 doubles pairs who play in ThePrimary School Challenge held once a term at variouslocations throughout Sydney North area

2015 has been the MOST successful year thus far withThe Bush School sitting at 1st PLACE (out of approx 40schools) after the first 3 terms of competition Thisallowed us to select 6 players to represent our school atthe Finals held at Talus Street Tennis Complex on 7thNovember Everyone else played a normal round ofcompetition at Kooroora Tennis Centre The finalscompetition was an extremely high standard our studentsfaced teams we had never seen before and mostlyconsisting of year 6 students Our young team must becommended on their fighting spirit and greatsportsmanship

Year 6 AdvocacyThis term Year 6 has been working on Advocacy The idea was to create a campaign on aworld issue narrowed down to something smaller agreed by the rest of our group Clickhere to see the photos of all the groups

Our campaign is called Water Works Our campaign aim is to create awareness aboutthe water crisis in Africa Throughout the term we have completed workshops in the leadup to our presentation These included topics such as stakeholders branding andSMART goals

KG MathsKG has also been learning about perimeter in maths We found out that it takes 253unifix cubes to measure the perimeter of one of our classmatersquos body We all workedtogether to cover the perimeter and we counted by 10s to find our final number



KG ArtKG has been learning about different artists within our art lessons We created our ownsunflowers inspired by Vincent Van Gogh using paint and dye As we have also beenlearning about minibeasts we used crepe paper and glue to create our bees swarmingamongst our beautiful sunflowers
