Term 4 Week 8 2020 SMS Absences: 0409594864

Year 6 Mini Fete The K-6 Mini Fete was today - Friday December 4, 2020. The theme for this year’s Mini Fete was “Christmas”. It was wonderful to see all the children from Kindergarten to Year 6 come to school dressed in their favourite Christmas Fancy Dress. The playground was buzzing with excitement as each grade joined in all the fun activities that were in the hall, under the Hall Cola and on the Synthetic Grass. There were lucky dips, basketball shooting, jaffa smashing, dress the teacher, pass the ball, guessing competitions and so much more. A huge congratulations to all of our Year 6 students for organizing the activities and for running the stalls.

Thank you to Catherine, Mr Crowhurst and Mr Tindall who did a fantastic job on the barbeque cooking all the sausages for our sausage sizzle lunch.

Sick Students Please don’t send children to school if they are sick. If your child is showing any of the Covid 19 symptoms, we will need a NEGATIVE COVID 19 test sent to the school before they return. If parents cannot be contacted then the emergency person listed in the system will be contacted to pick up the child. A reminder to send any updated details to the school office if any changes have been made.

Water Bottles We are asking all parents to remind their children to bring a drink bottle to school every day. COVID guidelines and restrictions do not allow us to make the bubblers available for students. We have a high number of children who arrive at school every day without a drink bottle. Students can use the taps available on our school premises to refill their water bottle throughout the day.

Student Attendance Parents are encouraged to use the SMS system to notify the school of student absences. Please send an SMS to the school – 0409594864 – before 9:00am to alert staff about a student absence. When sending a text message or note to the school to indicate your child’s absence, the reason for the absence must be indicated otherwise it will be recorded as an unjustified absence.

The school formally recognises the wonderful achievements of our talented pupils and exemplary school citizens through our Presentation Day Assemblies. Our school community values are the platform from which many of our students are rewarded for their dedicated efforts, outstanding contributions and high level of participation in all key learning areas of their learning. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students and I would like to congratulate all of the students for their hard work that they have done this year.

Congratulations to all recipients of Awards. Special congratulations to our School Captains for 2021: Dolly F and Jack W, as well as Vice Captains: Holly C and Rocco F. Congratulations to the following students that have been successful in gaining a Prefect position in 2021. They are Isabel L, Ebony S, Neve M, Tully J, Jackson S and Semion M.

I wish to take this opportunity in congratulating all the students nominated for this position and trust that they will enjoy leadership opportunities presented throughout the year.

Celebrations

All K-6 students will be receiving their school report on Monday 7 December 2020.

There are lots of great events to look forward to from now to the end of the term.

Presentation Days Years K-2 and 3-6 Thank You Burraneer Bay We have received so much positive feedback from the school community about our K-2 and 3-6 Presentation Day Assemblies yesterday. Thank you for your support. It truly was wonderful to be able to Live Stream these special assemblies to the school community so that we could celebrate the achievements of students from K-6 together. It is very important for us to recognise the achievements of our students and equally important for us to have the school community celebrate these achievements with us. It was encouraging to see all the students positively recognising the achievements of their peers. The smiles on the students’ faces as they came up to receive their award said it all. Congratulations to James L who was the Dux for 2020 and to Ella P and Tayla H who received the Citizenship Awards. Congratulations to Lennox S who received the Deputy Principal’s Award and Milly G who received the Principal’s Award. Congratulations to Sasha L who received the Premiers Sporting Challenge Medallion. Congratulations to all the students who received awards and to the 2020 Student Leaders for a job well done.

Council’s service at our school caters for children Kindergarten-12 years and opens 7am-6pm (commencing Thursday 17 December). Some of the holiday program highlights include rock climbing, laser tag, science experiments, sports, arts and crafts and excursions.
