Calendar Item K-2 Gymnastics In Term 3, students from Kindergarten to Year 2 will participate in a Gymnastics program for sport. A specialised sport company called Fit Futures will run the Gymnastics Program. They will supply all of the equipment and provide specialised teachers. We first introduced this program in 2016 and it was so successful that we decided to keep it going. Gymnastics will be organised over two days and your child will need to wear their sports uniform to school on the day that they have gymnastics. All of the Kindergarten classes and 1H, 1B and 1T will have Gymnastics on Wednesdays. All of the Year 2 classes and 1P will have Gymnastics on Thursdays.

A Message from our Principal, Ms Pantelis

Farewell Mrs.Stannard Our school was very fortunate to have Mrs Stannard as a teacher who, amongst her many roles here at BBPS, supported the students in the library. Mrs Stannard has decided to retire celebrating a career dedicated to educating students. Mrs Stannard has been a valuable member of our staff and she will be sorely missed by the students, parents and all of her colleagues. We wish her the very best in retirement and thank her for all her work in helping to create a better future through the lives of our students.

Working Together Thank you for the positive feedback in regards to our communication. An enormous thank you to our wonderful teachers for their professionalism and hard work to ensure the Student Reports are a thorough and accurate representation of each child’s progress and achievements during Semester 1. Many hours of personal time goes into reporting student progress, including the time teachers have allocated for interviews. Please join us in reinforcing the importance of effort, perseverance and taking risks to learn from our mistakes.

Social Media Our staff decided to create a school Facebook account a few years ago so that they could share the students’ positive experiences with you. Thank you to our team of teachers who volunteer their time to post and monitor our social media sites. If you have any enquiries please contact the school as we would be able to provide you with accurate information. Our main area for communication is via SchoolEnews. All families should access this app so that they can be kept updated on all the wonderful things that are happening at our school. If you require any assistance with uploading the app, please contact the office and we can offer you support. Please note that we are uploading all communication as newsletters and when it’s relevant to a particular grade only, we will indicate this in the heading.

Band Concert I had the privilege of watching our Band Concert last Thursday night and was so incredibly proud of all our students performing in the School Band. We even had a parent take part in the concert which just goes to show that we have musical talent in BBPS families. Thank you to Miss Ashby, Mrs Stuart and Mr Yule for their commitment to making our Band program such a successful one at BBPS.

End of Term Celebrations We had our Combined K-6 Assembly today and congratulations to all our award recipients. Students last day

for this term is tomorrow 5 July and all K-6 students return on Tuesday 23 July 2019.

Term 2 Combined K-6 Assembly Today’s Combined Assembly was a wonderful culmination to an exciting and busy term. Burraneer Bay Public School is one of a kind. It offers students a wealth of activities to support their learning and encourages all students to have a go. Thank you to the captains and prefects for running the assembly. Congratulations to the students who received White Ribbon Awards, Values Certificates, Pennants and Sport Awards at today’s assembly and to the dancers, Junior Band and Junior Choir who entertained us.

A Note from the Office Monday 22 July 2019 is a Staff Development Day and the school office is closed as all staff are offsite.

The Office will re-open on Tuesday morning 23 July 2019.

OFFICE HOURS – 8.30am to 3.30pm. The office is closed during all school holidays and office staff are also required to do staff training on Staff Development Days.

One note for each Child. (Not one note per Family) This applies for any note. On our new sign in/sign

out system one note for early leavers, late arrivals slips etc.

When calling the absentee SMS, please do one message per child including their class.

Notes must be handed in by the due date.

All notes to the office by 11.30am. Students are not to hand teachers their notes but are to put them

in the letterbox in the door of the office on their arrival at school.

Ensure child’s first name, surname and class are on all notes/forms

Use blue or black pen to fill out all notes/forms

Students are not to fill in notes/forms

Ensure forms/notes are filled out correctly with all required details –

o A separate note for each child

o Correct credit card details

o All credit card details

o Tick the correct payment boxes

If paying by cash, please send the correct money.

Leadership Project

Care Packages for the Homeless Dear parents, The Leadership Team of School Captains, Vice-Captains and Prefects at Burraneer Bay would like your support to make care packages for the Homeless people in Sydney. Our aim is to create packages to donate to “Movement Sydney Homeless Outreach” who deliver Care Packages to the homeless at Woolloomooloo every Saturday night. We are hoping to receive donations from every student in every grade. These donations are to be given to the class teachers by the end of Week 4 Term 3. The Leadership Team will organise all the donations into Care Packages. We are suggesting the following donations:- Kindergarten – toothbrush and toothpaste Year 1 – Soap and deodorant Year 2 – Hairbrush and comb Year 3 – Perfume and hand lotion Year 4 – Shampoo and hand sanitiser Year 5 – Scarf and beanie Year 6 – gloves and socks Thanking you for your support, The Leadership Team of School Captains, Vice-Captains and Prefects

There will be a Book Fair in the Library before school, during Open Classroom visits and at Recess. Cost of books range from approx. $2.00 to $20.00 each. Profits will purchase additional reading resources for the school.

Donuts will be on sale at recess for $2.00 each.

Tea and coffee will be sold at the CANTEEN. Parents are welcome to stay and enjoy morning tea with their children.

Normal classroom programs will continue immediately after recess. We look forward to seeing you.
