DROP OFF ZONES We have be asked to remind all of our Burraneer Bay community that the areas directly outside the school on Gannons Road and Burraneer Bay Road are designated ‘drop off zones’.

In these zones, parents and carers are able to legally drop off or pick up their children within a two-minute timeframe. The driver must remain in their car. He /She is able to pull into the drop off zone to allow children to get in or out of the car. The driver is not allowed to open or close the boot or assist with doors. A large fine and the loss of 3 demerit points will result if the driver is seen doing so.

Stationery Packs The 2020 Stationery Packs have arrived. All students in Year 1 and Year 2 have been asked to purchase a stationery pack. These packs ensure that all the children have access to all the necessary resources they require for their classroom activities. These packs are not a fundraising activity. They are provided to us at a cost that is less than the recommended retail price. The Year 1 pack costs $80 and the Year 2 packs cost $65. Payment can be made by cash or cheque or Credit Card, Online payments will also be accepted. Details were included in the Grade Information Packs that were sent home on Friday.

Resource Levy

2020 Resource Levies were also sent home last week. The school relies heavily on its Resource Levies. This levy covers the costs associated with the implementation of many valuable school programs and the resources and experiences that students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will access and participate in throughout 2020.

Included in this levy are items such as Exercise Books, Art and Craft Materials, Paper and Photocopying, Digital Technology Resources, Report Folders, Diaries, School Magazines, Chair Bags, Mathletics, Reading Eggs and Reading Lexiles.

Student Wellbeing Officer Ms Emma Restall is our new Student Wellbeing Officer. The role of the Student Wellbeing Officer is to provide care and support for the social and emotional wellbeing of students. This is provided through individual, small group or whole class settings. Students can be referred by their parent, teacher or individual request. All meetings with the Student Wellbeing Officer require parental permission. Small group programs may run in collaboration with the class teachers who have identified particular areas of need in the students in their class. These may include social skills, friendship skills, resilience building or anxiety prevention.

Dogs in Schools Please help us by carefully reading this and following our instructions. Despite our numerous requests last year, we still have dogs tied to the front fence of our school. A reminder to all members of our school community that as determined by local government policy, dogs are not to be on school grounds or within 10 metres of the school. This rule has been made to ensure the safety of all students. It is very important that we continue to revisit areas that impact on student wellbeing. Our office staff have had to remind a few people about this rule again this week and the feedback they received was not encouraging. No dogs are to be brought onto the school grounds or kept on the footpath in front of the school. No dogs are to be tied up to the school fence while you come into the school to drop off or pick up your children Please be considerate of others.
