1. Include a clear photo of yourself. A headshot is preferred because you’ll

tend to get a better shot. The photo should speak to your professional

brand. If you are a comedian you’ll obviously want a picture smiling unless

of course you are the “mad comedian” in that case you’ll want something

serious. The point here is to have a clear and professional photograph that

compliments your personal brand or image. People should look at your

picture and have some idea to the type of work you may do. While it’s

great to use a photo from a professional photo shoot, it’s not mandatory

unless that’s the type of image you are conveying as it relates to your

brand.

2. You’ll want a background that compliments your photo and overall

personal brand. Having colors, text sizes and fonts that compliment your

official website, blog and other offline marketing material is generally a

great idea as people will immediately identify with some part of your brand

3. In branding yourself appropriately on Twitter you’ll want to engage the

community. Remember it’s about adding extreme value to encourage

permission based marketing as opposed to push marketing. As you better

engage the community people will want to know more about you and what

you do. When you have your profile set up correctly they will seek you out,

ask you questions and determine if they will refer others to you and/or do

business with you themselves.
