Principal’s Report
Dear Parents,
P & C MEETING
Tuesday 9th August
2016
INTERVIEWS
Next week, we will be holding our first semester interviews. The interviews are held
with you, your child and the class teacher. Each interview is 10 minutes and if you
feel that you need more time, please make a further appointment so teachers can
try to stay on time. At the interview, you will be given your child’s first semester
report. If you are unable to make the day and time could you please contact the
school on the above number so that we can let the teacher know.
WALKATHON
On Monday 27th June, the P & C will be holding their annual walkathon to raise
money for school resources. The walkathon takes place completely within the
school grounds. The class that returns the most walkathon cards after the
walkathon will win a free sausage sizzle during Education Week next term.
YEAR 5 TASTER LESSONS
On Tuesday 28th June, Year 5 students have been invited to attend Evans High
School where they will participate in a range of taster lessons so that students can
get a sense of ‘High School Life’, regardless of which high school you may have
planned for your child. The Year 5 students will be walking to and from Evans High
School and the excursion is free. If you have a Year 5 child, the permission note
needs to be returned by Monday 27th June.
EDUCATION WEEK/ ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Week three of next term is Education Week and during that week our school will be
holding its Open Day as well as the annual Athletics Carnival for Years 3 to 6. The 3
to 6 Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 2nd
August at the Blacktown
Sportspark. Permission notes have gone home with students. The cost is $10.00
per student which covers the cost of the bus and entry into the venue. Trials are
currently being held at school for the finals of the high jump, long jump, discus and
shot put. The finals of these events will be held at the Athletics Carnival along with
running races, relays and novelty events.
Open Day at Blacktown West will be held on Wednesday 3rd
August. There will be
‘Open Classrooms’, the Library and Computer Room will be open and a sausage
sizzle will be held at lunchtime. We will also be holding a concert after recess where
many of our students will be performing. All parents and grandparents are most
welcome to come along and see the wonderful things the children are doing at our
school.
MILKSHAKE DAY
The SRC had a great response to yesterday’s Milkshake Day. More than 300
milkshakes were made and delivered to students K to 6. Thank you to the students
who purchased a milkshake and their parents for allowing them to participate.
SCHOOL CANTEEN
NO CREDIT is available through the school canteen. Please do NOT ask.
NEW DEPARTMENT FINANCE SYSTEM
We are switching over to a new system for the school finances in Term 3. Please note the final dates for any
payments as NO extensions will be available. There will be two weeks when NO money can be received in this
transition; the two weeks will be from Monday 29th
August until Friday 9th
September (continuous reminders of
these dates will appear in future newsletters).
Further to this change, from Wednesday 15th
June (Week 8 Term 2) NO money will be able to be received on a
Wednesday as these days are training days for the School Administrative Manager and School Administrative
Officer.
STAGE THREE CAMP
Official camp meetings will commence early next term for those students who are attending our Canberra and Snowy
Mountains camp. All official notes including permission notes, medical forms and the itinerary will also go home early
next term. The balance of the camp payment must be made by Wednesday 10th August. Camp is by invitation only and
students who receive multiple blue slips or blue slips of a significant nature will be issued a warning letter to cancelling
their camp and if cancelled, the money will be returned to their parents.
DOGS
Please DO NOT bring your dog onto the school grounds. If you walk your dog when you bring to or pick up your children
from school, please collect your children from one of the school gates. We have many children who are afraid of dogs.
BOOK PACK / LOST LIBRARY BOOK PAYMENTS Notes were issued to families who had outstanding Bookpack and lost Library books. The Bookpacks are issued in Term 1 to any student who pays a $20.00 deposit with the commitment to pay the balance by the end of Term 1. Ms West continuously sends out reminder notes for overdue Library books and if the book has been lost, an invoice of the replacement cost of the book is issued. The Library is for students to borrow books for research and pleasure; however, the books need to be returned by the due date so that other students can take advantage of our supply of books.
HOMEWORK CLUB
Homework club is on every Wednesday in the OLD TOP HALL, first half of lunch. All students from K-6 are welcome to
come along. Please don’t forget to bring your pen/pencil & homework.
LAST DAY of TERM TWO
The last day of this term is Friday 1st July. All students will return for the commencement of Term 3 on Tuesday 19
th July
2016.
Yours sincerely
