Everyone is encouraged to come to the Milk River Catfish Classics Famous Midnight Weigh-ins on Saturday night across from D&G sports & Western to get in on all the excitement. Weigh-ins actually

begin around 11:15 p.m. and will wrap up around 1:00 a.m. Save some room for a midnight snack such as a pulled pork sandwich as Auzzys Cook Shack will be serving until weigh-ins conclude.

Even Farmers love the Catfish Classic Farmers love the Cat Classic cause they know that rains a-comin, laughed Brenner Flaten, Tournament Director of the Milk River Catfish Classic. Sure nuff, its shaping up to be that way again to kick off the

16th Annual Cat Classic festivities tonight. The forecast calls for about a 40 percent chance this afternoon and it bumps up to an 80-some-percent chance this evening. But dont let that deter you from taking in the calcutta and live music

on Front Street. Live music features the world famous Hells Belles as well as Mabels Rage playing before the calcutta and after Hells Belles performance. Good news for the anglers,

  • Letter to the Buzzweather conditions sound near perfect for Saturdays fishing. It will be warm when they head

out at 4:00 the high tomorrow is looking to top out at over 80 right around 5:00 according to the National Weather Service in Glasgow and will then gradually dip down to around 60 for the Famous Midnight Weigh-ins. As mentioned yesterday, the river is as stable as Brenner remembers, so it should provide for some great fishing. Lots of anglers want to fish there old holes, and heres their chance, he said. Finally, the water is not up in the trees. While some of the very best catfish anglers in the region will be here, he figures the local teams should have an edge because, after all, this is the Milk River, not the Yellowstone or Missouri where the other three tournaments on the Montana Cats Tour are held. The Milk River is an animal compared to the rocky bottoms of the Yellowstone and Missouri rivers, he explained. Thats what separates this tournament from the other three. And thats what keeps a lot of these super-successful tournament anglers coming here from afar: the sheer challenge of having to switch up tactics to figure out what some of the local anglers have learned years ago. Its a puzzle they want to tackle, Brenner said. Such as fishing with frogs, for instance. Simply put, they dont work very well in the Yellowstone or Missouri. And while cut-bait works everywhere, in the murky Milk frogs are a go-to bait for many of the locals. What can we expect to see at the Famous Midnight Weigh-ins? As always, there will be some teams that find some big ones, says Brenner. There are ten teams to highlight they always seem to be there. And then there will be ten up-and-comers and newbies find their way to the stage. Thats typically how its gone in the past and with the stable river conditions that we have, I think this is how it will play out once again and I expect it to be a super-exciting tournament.

A horse walks into a bar. The bartender says, Why the long face? The horse stands there, staring blankly at the bartender. Everyone starts to feel a little awkward. The horses handler comes in and leads it out, but not before its knocked over a couple of glasses and soiled itself. Needless to say, the bar is closed for the rest of the day. Jesus walks up to the bar, but its closed for hygiene reasons and he goes next door to a hotel. He hands the receptionist a couple of nails and says, Can you put me up for the night? The receptionist takes a moment to understand, not speaking Aramaic, but is able to explain in mime that nails are not legal tender. After Jesus leaves disgruntledly, a duck that has been kind of harrassing the receptionist for the last few days by asking for grapes waddles in. The duck asks if the receptionist has any nails, and the receptionist finally snaps. Deciding to walk out on the most ludicrous workday of his life, the receptionist goes to the bar, and is infuriated to find it closed. He jimmies open a window, not caring who sees. But two old friends across the street, a priest and a rabbi, DO see. They decide they should do something to calm this agitated man down, and follow him into the bar. The bartender, having spent all day cleaning up after the horse, sees the receptionist, the priest and the rabbi come into the bar, and stops scrubbing long enough to ask, what is this, some kind of a joke?

Claims by anti-fracking activists debunked Heres the breaking news from Politico- EPA: Fracking poses no widespread, systemic harm to drinking water.

A long-awaited EPA report on hydraulic fracturing hands a victory to the oil and gas industry, concluding that the extraction process has not led to widespread, systemic impacts on drinking water resources.

Dr. Katie Brown, a Montana native, has more for EnergyInDepth.org:

Long-Awaited EPA Study Finds Fracking Has Not Led to Widespread Water Contamination Today (June 4) the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is releasing its long awaited, five-year study, which finds hydraulic fracturing activities have not led to widespread, systematic impacts to drinking water resources. As many have noted, this is the most important study on hydraulic fracturing to come out over the past five years a fact that EPAs Science Advisor and Deputy Assistant Administrator of EPAs Office of Research and Development pointed to in a press release,

It is the most complete compilation of scientific data to date, including over 950 sources of information, published papers, numerous technical reports, information from stakeholders and peer-reviewed EPA scientific reports.

EPA today also released nine peer-reviewed scientific reports, which played a big role in contributing to EPAs overall groundwater study. EPAs study actually builds upon a long list of studies that show the fracking process poses an exceedingly low

risk of impacting underground sources of drinking water. It corroborates a landmark study by the U.S. Department of Energy in which the researchers injected tracers into hydraulic fracturing fluid and found no groundwater contamination after twelve months of monitoring. It is also in line with reports by the U.S. Geological Survey, the Government Accountability Office, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Groundwater Protection Council, to name just a few. The report contradicts the most prevalent claim from anti-fracking activists, which have made water contamination the very foundation of their campaign against hydraulic fracturing. As EID reported in March, after heralding the report at its inception, anti-fracking organizations like the NRDC and InsideClimate News (ICN) later went into damage control, downplaying the forthcoming report, likely due to what it would conclude. Hydraulic fracturing has brought cleaner air, significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions, created millions of jobs, reduced energy prices, strengthened national security, and turned the American economy around. With this new report, it couldnt be clearer that shale development is occurring in conjunction with environmental protection and the claims by anti-fracking activists have been thoroughly debunked.
