Sky Bar, Distil and Sirocco Enjoy sweeping views from the top of Bangkok's second tallest building, the landmark State Tower with its highly visible golden dome. Tucked away in a corner of the award-winning open air Sirocco restaurant on the 64th floor, Sky Bar's counter is magically illuminated and changes colour every few minutes. Al fresco rooftop bar by the riverside, good alternative to classy hotel rooftop venues surrounding it. Offering the same stunning view of Chao Phraya River but you don't pay as much to enjoy it as drinks are reasonably priced. The atmosphere is casual and pleasant. Soothing bossa nova tunes begin the evening before it shifts to house beats later into the night. The rooftop is shared with Rivercity Bar BQ restaurant. Open Tues - Sun 7pm - 2am

Gazebo A rooftop bar-come-club where balmy winds and nocturnal city views mix into a heady cocktail. It's all a little like the entrance to a half-built pleasure palace. Resist the temptation to turn back; views entertain while you sip cocktails in what feels like an upscale Moroccan loft. The plump cushions, the soft lamps, the shisha pipes (and the lack of air-conditioning…) are all heavily redolent of Cairo. Includes ‘The Zed Bar’ – a state-of-the-art DJ room where you can belly dance into the small hours. D'Sens Bar & Restaurant Overlooking Lumpini Park from the top (22nd) floor of this prime and established Bangkok hotel, this elegant French-themed restaurant and bar comes highly recommended with its three Michelin stars in the dining category. It's possible to pop in just for a drink too, but make the most of your evening with the fine cuisine of Jacques and Laurent Pourcel from Le Jardin fame. Above Eleven The latest rooftop bar and restaurant to emerge on the Sukhumvit Soi 11 party strip. Above Eleven serves Peruvian Japanese fusion fare, known as Nikkei cuisine, along with a refreshing list of cocktails made from Peruvian Pisco. The bar provides a peaceful space in the heart of the city, decked out with wooden seats surrounded by fake grass and a large glass wall that allows you to, again, embrace the 180-degree view on the 33rd floor.

Our visit (Oct 2012) A little tricky finding the entrance (do ask) and it's worth the trouble. The views are broad and transparent, a long open bar (easy access) and many cosy tables with Uninterrupted views.

The menu price is fair for this romantic setting, the food has an Indian infusion which gives a little spice and spark. Open daily from 06.00 am - 02.00 am Tour zone: Sukhumvit Location: Fraser Suites Sukhumvit Soi 11
