Workshop on Cataract and Management of other Eye diseases: 25th-26th May

The Trust organized an innovative Workshop on Cataract and Management of other Eye diseases under the aegis of National Program for Control of Blindness (NPCB) at Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya (SNC), Chitrakoot on 25th and 26th of May, 2014. Ophthalmologists, DPMs and SPOs from Jharkhand, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh were invited by NPCB for this 2-day Live-Surgical workshop. The program was chaired by Ms. Valsamma K. Daniel, Deputy Secretary, NPCB with Dr. V. Rajshekhar, Asst. Commissioner, NPCB, Dr. Hemant Sinha, Deputy Director, Directorate of Health Services, Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Jai Bhagwan, Consultant, MOHFW. Live Surgeries were showcased and didactic lectures were carried out effectively by Medical Superintendent, SNC, Dr. Alok Sen, Dr. Ranjit H. Maniar, Mumbai and Dr. Uma Sharan Tiwari, HOD, G R Medical College Gwalior. Around 20 delegates participated in the workshop.

Visit at Moog International: 19th June

The partnership of HelpmeSee, USA and Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust is continuously generating new ideas and interventions in the field of Ophthalmology. HelpmeSee invited Dr. B.K. Jain, Director & Trustee of Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust, Chitrakoot to visit Moog international, Amsterdam on 19th of June 2014. The main purpose of his visit was to have an over view on Surgical Simulator for Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery, which is a great innovation in the field of Ophthalmology. During his visit he had an interaction, demo and orientation on Surgical Simulators with Mr.Bert Thalen & Mr.Karel Van Gelder, officials of Moog and Mr. Rogier, official, HMS.

Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya- Chitrakoot

Nepal Team Visit: 24th – 25th June

Team of Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh visited Trust on 24th June for 2 days observation visit. The rationale behind their observation was to get exposure on how the Trust is managing high volume, high quality sustainable eye care services. They expressed willingness to join hands with Sadguru for future relationship mainly in enhancing eye care activities and capacity building program.

Inauguration of 27th Vision Centre- 26th June

With the blessings of Gurudev, the Trust has inaugurated 27th Vision Centre (13th in MP) in Panna District place, Madhya Pradesh on 26th June, 2014. The rationale behind this intervention is to provide Primary Eye Care services at the doorstep of the community making services accessible and affordable to all. With a vision of expansion, the Trust has planned to gear up its network of VCs within this fiscal year and has targeted five more VCs in Madhya Pradesh with focus on delivery of Comprehensive Eye Care services in underserved areas where Eye Care services are almost non-existable. The Centre was inaugurated by Mr. Nagendra Singh, Member of Parliament in the presence of Panna Collector, Mr. R. K. Mishra, Panna SP, Mr. R. K. Jain, local community members and Sadguru Team.

Sightsavers Fast Track Cataract Initiative Project

Sightsavers and Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust have partnered to initiate Sightsavers strategy towards strengthening of Govt. Health system ‘Fast Track Cataract Initiative Project’ among five districts of Madhya Pradesh (Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Shahdol and Katni).

Cataract Backlog Free Zone Project in District Panna, Madhya Pradesh

The Trust had visualized a concept of making districts Cataract Backlog Free Zone in collaboration with Help Me See Inc., USA and govt. district authorities since 2012 and formulated in the year 2013 by initiating this concept in District Chitrakoot, Uttar

Pradesh (almost accomplished).

Extending these services, the Trust has now shouldered the

responsibility of District Panna, Madhya Pradesh in

collaboration with Help Me See Inc., USA and govt. district

authorities, Madhya Pradesh to formulate the concept of Cataract Backlog Free Zone. The intervention was inaugurated by Collector, District Panna, Mr. R. K. Mishra on 26th May, 2014. Senior Paramedical Team of the Trust gave training to around 1400 Anganwadi and Asha workers for door to door screening of visually disabled persons in rural and urban part of District Panna. The Trust has conducted 64 screening camps till 30th June (for those referred by Anganwadi and Asha workers) for identification of Cataract and transportation of selected cases for surgical intervention at Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya, Chitrakoot. Simultaneously the Trust has also planned for Banda district (Uttar Pradesh) to initiate the concept of

making Banda, Cataract Backlog Free Zone. Root level planning has been completed and will be

implemented in the next couple of months.

Inauguration of Super-specialty Clinic- 13th April

With the blessings of Gurudev, the Trust has inaugurated Super-specialty clinic at Jankikund Chikitsalaya, on 13th April. Chief Guest of the program was Prof.R.G.Singh, Director, Institute of Medical Science, BHU, Varanasi and special guests of the program were Prof. A.K.Khanna, Ex-Head, Surgery Department, Institute of Medical Science, BHU, Varanasi and Prof. V.N.Mishra, Head, Neurology Department, Institute of Medical Science, BHU, Varanasi. The Trust has signed MOU with BHU, Varanasi to cater the desired and dying need of community to avail

specialties services in the region, as currently no such facilities are available within 100 KM of radius. World Blood Donor Day: 14th June

Under the aegis of the Trust, Jankikund Chikitsalaya has celebrated World Blood Donor Day on 14th June, 2014. On this occasion Blood Donation Camp and Awareness through Rally and Orientation for motivating people to donate the Blood was held at Base Hospital and surrounding areas. Volunteers from Amar Ujala Foundation & Association for consumer Action of safety Karwi, Chitrakoot donated 18 Blood units.

41st Ram Katha: 31st March – 08th April

In continuation to the traditional ceremonies being held at the Trust, Raghuveer Mandir Trust has organized Ram Katha on the occasion of Ram Navmi and Gurudev’s 500th Birth Anniversary. The Ram Katha was delivered by Shri Uma Shanker ji Maharaj. The katha came to an end on 9th day with the celebration of Ram Navmi in the presence of Gurubhais and Sadguru Parivar. On occassion of annual gau pujan ceremony at sadguru gau seva Kendra on 06th April Shri Umashankar

ji Maharaj addressed importance of cows and performed gau pujan.

World Health Day – 7th April

Sadguru School of Nursing celebrated World Health Day on 7th April 2014. This year theme was “Small Bite - Big Threat: Take simple measures to protect yourself from Vector-Borne Diseases”. Nursing students presented chart & poster related to hand-washing and sanitation for health education.

International Nurses Day – 12th May

Sadguru School of Nursing celebrated International Nurses Day on 12th May 2014. This year theme was “Nurses: A force for change - a vital resource for health”. Healthcare challenges and opportunities were discussed on the occasion.

Gramodaya-Sadguru Community College: First Certificate Distribution Ceremony- 21st May

Sadguru Vocational Training Center runs different courses like Sewing, Beautician, Soft toy manufacturing, Stitching, Food processing and other health care related programs under Gramodaya-Sadguru Community College. 19 students completed their training successfully and were awarded certificate by Mrs. Usha B. Jain, President, Sadguru Education Society on 21st May, 2014.

6th Sadguru Premier League- 28th April-26th May

SPL-VI , the in-house cricket tournament was held from April 20th - May 17th, 2014. Total 14 teams participated in this league.. Final match was played between Sadguru Star Eleven Vs Vidyadham Eleven on 17th May, 2014. Sadguru Star Eleven won the league in a thrilling final, outsmarting Vidyadham Eleven by 22 runs.

World Environment Day – 5th June

The day was celebrated by the Trust on 5th June 2014 by conducting Awareness Rally. The theme for this year’s World Environment Day celebrations is ‘Raise your Voice, not the Sea level’. Nursing students and staff of Sadguru raised their voice against use of plastic bags in Chitrakoot region.

Staff Meeting: 31st May

Dr. B.K.Jain, Director & Trustee had meeting with all Staff of the Trust stating the values and principles of the Trust. He shared the Journey of the Trust since inception, stating all the barriers and challenges the Trust has faced in rendering its services. He also laid stress on disciplines and behavior to be followed by the Staff.

5th AmeriCares Spirit of Humanity Awards 2014: 14th April With the blessings of Gurudev the Trust has received AmeriCares Spirit of Humanity Awards 2014 in the field of Eye Care. More than 200 nominations were received for this year’s competition and all qualified nominations were reviewed by a screening committee consisting of individuals from the social sector and CSR teams from the corporate sector. The Trust in the category of Eye Care received a cash award of Rs.100,000, a Spirit of Humanity trophy and a Certificate of Excellence. More than 300 distinguished guests including CEOs, CSR heads of leading organizations, faculty & thought leaders in the social sector and leaders of nongovernmental organizations, attended the grand award function. Mr. Subeesh from SSSST Chitrakoot with Ms. Karuna and Mr. Harish Bhagdeo from SSSST, HO Mumbai represented the organization on the occasion.

Sponsors Day Celebration: 05th April Sponsors Day was organized by the Trust at Anandpur on 05th April, 2014. Around 60 camp sponsors from 14 districts actively participated in the program and shared their ideas to strenghthen the Outreach Program at SSNC, Anandpur. On the occasion Dr. Jobanputra, Director & Trustee, gave sincere thanks and awarded certificates to sponsors for taking out their time and giving all their efforts in the work of Humanity and Elimination of Needless Blindness. Optical Dispensing Workshop: 03rd June

A workshop was organized on 03/6/2014 for skill development regarding optical dispensing for optical personnel and optometrist. Training was given by Mr Ziarul Islam Mondal (Senior Optical Technician, Tata Eye Wear Division) and Shakeel Ahmed, Program Manager, SSNC,Anandpur.

An Orientation program on Soft-skills and Behavior development

towards patients was conducted at Sadguru Sankalp Netra Chikitsalya,

Anandpur on 28th June, 2014. Mr. Pabitra (Sr. Territory Sales
