PadmaShree Prof. Dr. T.P. Lahane Oration Award

was conferred on Dr. B.K. Jain, Director and

Trustee of Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust,

Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh by Maharashtra

Ophthalmological Society in the 36th Annual

Conference of Maharashtra Ophthalmological

Society (MOSCON2016) held form 14-16th Oct

2016 in Mumbai. This award is given to recognize

National luminaries in the field of Ophthalmolo gy

who embody the spirit of relentless pursuit despite difficulties to provide vision to the neediest

sections of the society, while maintaining excellence in quality all along. The award was

given by Prof. Dr. Lahane himself in the presence of Dr. D. Ramamurthy, President, AIOS

and many other eminent luminaries.

years to eliminate blindness due to cataract in rural India.

World Sight Day, Oct 13th 2016

Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya (SNC),

Shri Sadguru Sava Sangh Trust

organized World Sight Day campaign

in various remote locations of Madhya

Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh with

Comprehensive-eye care Outreach

Screening Camps and Free Diabetic

Retinopathy(DR) Camps bringing

patient care at their door steps and

held extensive awareness sessions for

the general public. Primary Vision

Centres of SNC participated actively

making World Sight Day celebrations a

big success. Awareness Rally and

External Sessions were held for the public by SNC team. Base hospital had special

info-desks for the same.

IAPB’s 10th General Assembly (10GA), October 27–30, 2016

Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya (SNC), Chitrakoot,

participated in IAPB’s 10th General Assembly

(10GA) in Durban, South Africa scheduled from

October 27–30, 2016. Dr. Elesh Jain, Adminis-

trator SNC, was one among the 5 invited speak-

ers from India who shared achievements of Shri

Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust in creating Cataract

backlog free Zones in India. Mr. D. Subraman-

yam and Mr. Subeesh Kuyyadiyil also attended

the conference. From Sadguru, two papers and a

poster were presented at the forum on eye care.

Sadguru Conclave –CONVERGENCE 2016, 7-8th December 2016

Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya (SNC), Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust conducted a grand

conference on Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus titled ‘Sadguru Conclave –

CONVERGENCE 2016’ on 7-8th December 2016 at Chitrakoot. Stalwarts from all over

the world gave new dimensions to the field of Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus.

Pre-Conference workshop on Oculoplasty was held by Dr. Santosh Honavar on Dec 6th

2016.

Sadguru Conclave –CONVERGENCE 2016, 7-8th December 2016

The conference commenced with sessions on various topics related to Paediatric Cataract,

Strabismus, Paediatric related diseases, Retinopalsy of Prematurity, Cornea and

Oculoplasty by the International and National Faculty. An interactive session of 3-D

surgical video on orbit and Oculoplasty was showcased by Dr. Honavar. A special session

on ‘Research Methodology’ was conducted by Dr. Agnieshka Baumritter covering all

aspects on the subject.

Quiz Contest, 8th December 2016

A Quiz contest was conducted during

Sadguru Conclave with attractive priz-

es. Among 28 teams (56 Candidates) 6

teams qualified for the grand finale of

Sadguru PG Quiz. The teams that

qualified were PGI Chandigarh,

MGMMC Indore, Sadguru Netra

Chikitsalaya Chitrakoot, KGMC Lucknow, GMC Kanpur and SSMC Rewa. The winning

team was from Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya (also the winner of MPSOC 2016 Quiz held

at Bhopal, M.P.) while PGI, Chandigarh and MGMMC, Indore were second and third run-

ner-ups respectively.

employee from operation theatre was rewarded with Rs 50,000/- for his devotion towards

Patients and Hospital.

Session on Visual Rehabilitation, 9th December 2016

Post Conference Session on

Visual Rehabilitation was

held on 9th Dec, 2016 by Dr.

Linda Lawrence which

covered unseen aspects of

unsuspected/suspected visual

impairment in children with

disabilities. The audience

for this session was ophthalmologists, general doctors, paramedical staff, ASHA and

Anganwadi workers and parents of differently abled children. The chief guest for the con-

ference was Dr. Yogesh Chandra Dubey, Vice Chancellor of Jagadguru Rambhadracharya

Handicapped University, Chitrakoot.

Vision-2020 Workshop on “COST MANAGEMENT FOR NGO EYE HOSPITALS”,

17th December 2016

Vision 2020: The Right to Sight- India and Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya, Chitrakoot

jointly organised a workshop titled “Cost Management for NGO Eye Hospitals”. Members

from around 10 states were part of this workshop. Dr. M. Deshpande, Dr. Elesh Jain, Mr.

R. M. Sundaram, Ms. Chitra Prasad, Mr. Subeesh Kuyyadiyil & Mr. Rishi Vora were

among the faculties. The Interactive sessions and case discussions brought better

understanding on cost containment in eye care, its management and various negotiation

and optimizing efforts.

Centre for Community Ophthalmology, Sadguru Netra Chikitslaya, Chitrakoot

Training Programs in Liaison with Sight-Savers

December 19th 2016 -Conducted training program on common Eye Diseases and eye

care for ASHA/SANGINI in Hamirpur District. DPM Dr.P.K.Singh, SDM Ram

Bhavan Tiwari, Mr.Shivakant Tripathi & Mr.Chetan Shukla address the ASHA/

SANGINI. 45 ASHA/SANGINI participated.

District Magistrate Mr. Naresh Pal inaugu-

rated 'Anchal Kaksha', a personal space for

the nursing mothers in Jankikund Chikitsa-

laya on Oct 28th 2016. Since a large number

of patients are mothers and new born babies

the formal lactation room will ensure

private space for mothers to breastfeed their

babies. District Program Officer Ms.

Pratibha Pandey and other dignitaries who

were present along with the Sadguru family,

appreciated the efforts of the Trust.

camps and Awareness centers were set up in the

Vision. A special session was organized for the

children at Bal Utsav with Mr. Naresh Pal, District

Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust cele-

brated World AIDS Day 2016 on Dec

1st. This year’s international theme for

World AIDS Day is “Living with HIV”

as clinical trials of new vaccines is un-

der the spotlight. The staff of

Jankikund Hospital organized activities

to raise awareness across the communi-

ty about the issues surrounding HIV

and AIDS with nukkad nataks. The

nurses distributed the red ribbon, wear-

ing which, people and hospital-staff

showed their support for the cause.

Chitrakoot by Sadguru Shiksha Samiti on the Children's Day, November 14, 2016. Presi-

dent, Mrs. Usha B. Jain felicitated the guests. Mr. Naresh Pal, District Magistrate, Satna

was the Chief Guest for the occasion with Shri Abhay Mahajan, Sanghathan Sachiv,

Deendayal Research Institute and Dr. Rahul Ali, India Director, Orbis International as

special guest. Dr. B.K. Jain, Director and Trustee, Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust ad-

dressed the students. Students from all the schools of Sadguru Educational Society par-

ticipated with great enthusiasm in various exhibitions with their models and creations.

conducted Cleanliness Drive to eradicate the polythese from the

campus. The drive ensured that the kids understand the hazard-

ous impact of polythene if left untreated.

In the Sadguru Auditorium of Sadguru Shiksha Samiti,

Dr. Chandrakeshaw Shukla gave the students

orientation on Health, Hygiene, Environment and how to

be safe from Infection induced diseases. This was done to

make the students more proactive in making their own

households safe and hygienic.

Nav-Durga Utsav, Oct 2-10th 2016

Under the aegis of the Trust, Raghubir

Mandir Trust celebrated Annakoot

Mahotsav on 31st October 2016. On this

day, many varieties of food items are

offered to Lord Krishna for prosperity of

life. Shri Raghubir Mandir Trust of-

fered around 508 types of food times to

Lord Krishna with various mantras and

hymns. Later the food was distrib-

uted as Prasadam among devotees

and Sadhus in the form of ‘Bhandara’.

Sadguru Parivaar celebrated this

occasion with Mandir and all the devo-

tee of Gurudev with joy and happiness.

birth anniversary of Param Pujya Gurudev Shri

Ranchhoddasji Maharaj was celebrated with Paduka

Pujan at Gurumani in Raghubir Madir by Shri Vishad

P. Mafatlal, Hon. Chairperson of the Trust. Members

of Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust and Gurubhai-

Bahans participated in the Pujan that was followed by

the Sadhu Bhandara.

ardent devotee of Param Pujya Shri Ranchhoddasji Maha-

raji (Gurudev), on Nov 3rd, 2016, Kartik sud Chauth, Shri

Sabha at Samadhi Sthal in the Trust campus at Chitrakoot

in memory of its beloved founding Chairperson. Chairman

On the ‘tithi’ of TulsiVivah, the symbolic

wedding ritual of is performed in the evening.

Devotees fast till the dusk and take up devo-

tional activities as soon as the sun is down.

Tulsi plant is decorated with flowers and all

other paraphernalia of a bride. Shri Raghubir

Mandir Trust celebrated the Tulsi Vivah with

Bhagwan Shaligram with Sadguru Parivar and

devotees of Gurudev from all over India. Dr.

Shubhi-Dr. Manish Bhardwaj represented the

groom’s (Bhagwan Shaligram) parents and Dr. Pradnya- Dr. Alok Sen and family

represented bride’s (Tulsi) parents. Amidst vedic mantra, the sacred marriage was

performed at auspicious time. Delicacies cooked were offered to Tulsidevi and prasad was

distributed among the devotees.

Cup by defeating Jagadguru Rambhadracharya

Viklang University in the finals. Mr. Manish

Kanchni from Sadguru Team was awarded 'Man of the Series' and 'Best Batsman'. Dr.

Sharad Dogney from Sadguru Team was awarded as 'Best Fielder' and also for 'Best

catch of the series' and Dr.Sharad was awarded 'Man of The Match' in the Finals.

World Sight Day was

celebrated across the

trust on 13th October

2016. Various community

based programmes were

organized on the occasion

by SSNC. 200 primary

children were screened

and around 50 teachers were trained at Nirmala Convent School, Sironj by SSNC Team

comprising of Mr. Shakeel Ahmed and Dr. Vrushali J. Sawant. Apart from this 274

patients were examined at outreach camp while 42 cataract patients were operated for

free at the base hospital at Anandpur.

Dr. Vishnu Jobanputra, Director and

Trustee of SSSST Anandpur, delivered a

“Motivation Lecture” at Samrat Ashok

Technological Institute (SATI), Vidisha

on 21st October 2016, highlighting the

achievements of SSSST and importance

of team spirit. Mr. J. S. Chouhan, Direc-

tor of SATI, Vidisha, praised the efforts

of Dr. Vishnu Jobanputra and his team

for their valuable contribution in eradica-

tion of avoidable blindness in the region.

He appealed everybody to learn from the

simple and dedicated life of Dr. Vishnu Jobanputra who has devoted his entire life for the

betterment of humanity.

presence of eminent ophthal-

mologist Dr. V. Kalevar

(Indore, M.P.) who in her guest lecture emphasized on Lamellar and Pediatric Kerato-

plasty. The surgical team comprising of visiting faculty Dr. Prateek Gujar from Bhopal

and Dr. Sharmila Jamra (Mandloi), Cornea Surgeon, SSNC volunteered their services.

Dr. Vishnu Jobanputra, Director and Trustee, in his address extended sincere gratitude

towards Dr. Kalevar for her kind support and congratulated the team for the effort. Reti-

na specialist from Bhopal, Dr. Amit Basiya was also present on the occasion along with

the ophthalmologists and other staff from SSNC. With the addition of this facility, corne-

al surgeries will now be performed on a routine basis at SSNC

Gondal on 29th November 2016 in delight-

ful presence of Mahamandaleshwar Swami Shri. Dr. Rameshwar Dasji Maharaj,

Rishikesh; SSSST Trustees ; and various gurubhai-bahans. The event was coordinated by

Shri Mahendra Bhai Dattani from Shri Sadguru Seva Setu Parivar Rajkot. During one

month camp, various Gurubhais and bahans across the country will visit the trust and

participate in the social welfare activities carried along with the Eye Camp.

CEO Zila Panchayat visited SSSST Anandpur on

27th November 2016. The guests were welcomed

by Mr. Goverdhan Upadhyay, Trustee SSSST.

During their short stay at the trust the guests

were briefed about the trust activities by Director

and Trustee Dr. Vishnu Jobanputra. Mr. Anil Suchari also visited the Vitreo-Retina unit

and praised the effort of the trust in making high-tech eye care services accessible to the

rural population.

Visit of District Administrative Heads at SSSST Anandpur, 27th November 2016

SSSST is committed to the overall development of the

rural community and has undertaken various poverty

alleviations drives to support poor families from rural

pockets. In this concern, essential consumer items of daily

use such as oil; food grains; sugar; salt; chili powder etc.

were distributed at various villages occupied by Munda

(language) speaking tribal community - Shehriya Tribes.

The activity was organized by Mahila-Samiti under the

leadership of Su. Ilabahan Jobanputra for the tribal fami-

lies residing at Bhilara; Semri Tapra; Bees Bhuja; Patherachandu; Chak Bajna; Dhammo

Khedi; Ratidhai villages. Considering the festive season, decorative items such as

bangles, bindis, rings etc. were also distributed among tribal women. In order to promote

primary education, 40 school children were gifted with school uniforms. In all 500 tribal

families benefited from the activity carried out in the month of October 2016.

of Prasada was offered to the deity. Staff members were served Prasada at the Bhandara

organized on the occasion. Following the Indian tradition, vehicles and other machineries

were worshiped on 1st November 2016 in the presence of support staff of the trust.

echoed by the Vedic Mantras enchanted with full devotion by students of Sanskrit Path-

shala. Staff and Gurubhai-Bahans participated in the Pujan and took the blessings of his

holiness.

organized at Shri Ramdas Hanuman Mandir from

30th November 2016 to 8th December 2016 in pres-

ence of Param Pujya 1008 Mahamandleshwar Shri

Haricharandasji Maharaj, Gondal. The Parayan

began with a huge procession (Shobha-Yatra) from

village Anandpur to Shri Ramdas Hanuman Mandir on 29th November 2016 which was

attended by Mahamandaleshwar Swami Shri. Dr. Rameshwardasji Maharaj, Rishikesh;

Pujya Shri Shyamsunderdasji Maharaj from Chitrakoot recited Parayan. Regulara Bhan-

dara was carried out with Sadhu-Bhandara for more than 500 saints.
