Windows 8 rebrand was launched recently, it was applied to a set of screen based mediums e.g smartphones and laptops. The colour scheme and grid systems applied to the relaunch are very current and up to date with the fast moving technology of today.

Layout and grid design has become a huge part of web design in the past few years. The research above has similarities to Windows 8, which highlights current trends on the internet today. Grids are important as they help break up information.

Myspace Rebrand

Justin Timberlake relaunched Myspace this year and invested in a completely new look for the social networking site. The website is fresh and interactive as it has pushed the static website into the past with overlay lightboxes and drag and drop applications. 1

USA Today : Rebrand

Last year, USA today did a fantastic rebrand of both their newspaper and online presence. The website feels like an iPad app with a horizontal experience and visual emphasis. A click feels like a finger swipe. The grid is anchored by images and color.The seamless flow creates a more continuous reading experience, unlike the abrupt stop and start of headline-driven reading. This design encourages readers to use section fronts as more than a way station between articles. 3
