MAY 2010 - A GRADING MONTH FOR SOMEBanstead TaeKwon-Do and Martial Arts continues to grow. Some students graded and some were studying hard for exams.

May 2010 seemed to whiz by with some tricky learning

material for the most senior students who where grading. We

had more newcomers across all groups and it’s wonderful to

see the school grow, to see people grow & change and to see

physical activity becoming part of people’s time.

More new and more sophisticated bodyweight exercises were

taught this month and it is clear to see that most people are

getting stronger, which is what

we’re looking for.

The Juniors are getting to grips

with more complicated

movements and they’re becoming

progressively more co-ordinated.

Grading Results From May 30th 2010

We had a grading in North Cheam on Sunday 30th

May 2010 with Mr Dennis (VI) as the examiner as

usual. We had 7 people grading and I am very

pleased to say that everybody passed well.

Results are:

1. Hazel Killner – passed to 7th Kup, Green Tags

2. Matt Thomas – passed to 7th Kup, Green Tags

3. Lukas Saridis – passed to 7th Kup, Green Tags

4. Lucy Young – passed to 8th Kup, Yellow Belt

5. Ian James – passed to 8th Kup, Yellow Belt

6. Sam Stockdale – passed to 8th Kup, Yellow Belt

7. Conor Graham (Juniors) – Passed to 9th Kup, Yellow Tags

Well Done to everyone. Now, we should be able to hold another grading at the

end of June or early July for people that weren’t quite ready for this one. Sit tight,

continue to work hard and you’ll get there.

Two New 2nd Degree BlackbeltsThe seniors on Wednesdays will know

Mr Potter and Mr Edwards, they are Mr

Dennis’ students and come training in

Banstead for extra practice, leading up to

their 2nd Dan Gradings, also on May 30th

2010.

They’re both at an excellent standard

and I am sure everyone will join me in

congratulating both Mr Potter and Mr Edwards

on promotion to the rank of 2nd Degree Blackbelt. This is great news and it

has been a pleasure having them at Banstead and I hope they both continue

to come training with us.

Grade: 8th Kup, Yellow Belt or above

Dates: 16th - 21st August 2010

Times: 10am - 3:30pm each day

People who attend this course have the opportunity to grade at the end

of the week. Of course you are not ever guaranteed passing a grading but

the condensed training certainly provides accelerated learning.

I (James Davis) will not be able to be at the camp all week, I might only

be able to make 1 whole day but Mr Dennis will take good care.
