She uses a bowl and puts a nice porridge in it. Then she puts a net over the bowl. Minli and Dragon
pretend to go to sleep. The monkeys, greedy as they are tried to get the porridge but their hands got stuck in the net. Then Dragon and Minli stopped pretending to sleep and they walked through the
forest collecting peaches as they went.
MiddleMinli is supposed to find a borrowed line that is
the secret to happiness which Dragon told her about in a story. The story was about the magistrate of the City of Bright Moonlight. The magistrate was very greedy. One day one of his servants told him about a family who new the secret to
happiness. That is what Minli wants to find. So she decides to see the king of the City who just might be an ancestor of the
magistrate.
Minli and Dragon walk for a while after the peach forest. Then they stumbl upon the City of Bright Moonlight.
Minli walks though the gate to the city. Dragon can’t because Minli thinks he might scare people. Inside the city Minli meets the Buffalo Boy whose parents died long ago and he lives in a little and poor house. He is called the “Buffalo Boy” because he owns a buffalo. Minli tells the Buffalo Boy her plan then they go to sleep. The Buffalo Boy’s friend comes over that
night. She was very beautiful and she told the Buffalo Boy that the king might be at the Market of Green Abundance.
EndIn the morning the Buffalo Boy takes Minli to the Market of Green
Abundance. Minli offers the Buffalo Boy a coin but he doesn’t want it. At the Market Minli sees an old beggar man begging the peach vendor for a tiny peach but the fat vendor said “no money, no peach” then the beggar said “please” weakly. The
vendor yelled at him and that attracted a small crowd. The crowd tells the vendor to give the old man a peach but he still does not. Then Minli bought a peach for the beggar with her
coin. The beggar ate the peach and said thank you in a much stronger voice. Keep on reading to find the surprise ending!
Genre
The genre is Fantasy Fiction. It is an Asian tale because of the characters names and the setting.
My Evaluation
It was a great book because it had a lot of adventure and the author included a lot of stories like The story of the dragon and the story of the old man of the moon. A just right book because there was only 277 pages and there were only 2 or 3 tough words on each page and I liked the authors message too.
