- Steve Smith is retiring from Saudi Aramco. Mr. Gamal Taweel will replace Steve as Saudi Aramco’s SC6 voting member.

- Vicki Corso is replacing Ed Knerr as BP’s SC6 voting member. - Paige Dehais for Mokveld is the new API SC6 voting member

SC6 organization Structure discussed (See Item 1 Attachment). Meeting etiquette - Presentation, Discussion (length at chairs discretion ~5-10 min), Speaker recognize hands, Motion/Refine, Second, Vote by members Participants - Non-Members who attends meetings and participates on standards development. Voting rights and procedures were explained. Sterling also presented the Organization Chart and asked for members to sign up on task groups where appropriate.

a. Attendance Sheets passed around. Member voter list and contact list also passed out for review. Revisions requested by e-mail. (See Item 3 Attachment)

b. Determination of Quorum – 16 voting members present. 13 required for Quorum. 4. Adoption of the Minutes from June 2011 Meeting (San Francisco, CA) – Sterling Lewis - MMSP

to approve minutes as written. 5. Summary Status of Work – Ed Baniak explained there was a need to review documents and

status of ballots. Summary chart of documents is available from Ed. It was suggested that we remove the old 6HP (document was never completed or published) from the list. Vote was taken and passed to remove 6HP from the list.

a. ISO 10423 – Ries Langereis - No report was given. b. SC18 liaison - Mike Briggs reported. (See Item 6b Attachment) The 9th edition of Q1 is being

worked in task group. Austin Freeman is chair. See status on API web-site. c. TG1 Pipeline and Valve Standards (6D, 6DSS, 6DR, 6H) – Rick Faircloth reported.

(See Items 6c1 and 6c2 Attachments) i. Status of API 6D Errata 6 & addendum 2 ii. API 6DR ballot comments and possible reformatting of document. Ballot completed. Comments

resolved. iii. There was a request to look at API 6H. No response from requests for people to work on this

document. It is being considered for withdrawal. iv. Report on ISO DIS 14313 Revision v. Report on ISO 14723 (API 6DSS) revision vi. New ballot item for back adopt of ISO 12490 Mechanical integrity and sizing of actuators and

mounting kits for pipeline valves. It is currently called API 6X until renamed. MMSP to issue ballot, with a six week ballot time, to adopt back ISO 12490 as API 6X.

d. TG2 Wellhead Standards and Corrections – David Zollo i. WG 6A Clad Quality – Mike Briggs reported (See Item 6di Attachment). MMSP to submit

proposed changes for ballot. ii. WG 6A “API” Marking – Mike Briggs reported on status. This item is complete. iii. WG 6A VR Plugs – David Zollo reported for Bob Barnett. This item is still being worked. Issue is

substitution of High Pressure VR plugs for Low pressure for safety and standardization purposes. A 4 in size is also being developed.

iv. WG 6AV1 Revision – Austin Freeman reported. Task Group meet today. They plan to propose a new Class III test that is more stringent then Classes I and II. Next meeting will be April 3 at FMC Tech. The removal of Annex I from API 6A will be proposed.

v. WG 14H Revision – David Comeaux reported. (See Item 6dv Attachment) This document is up for reaffirmation, and has been determined to need some changes. It is intended to redefine the document as a “standard” instead of a “recommend practice.” It was commented that the manufacturer will have trouble responding to a failure report for a product being repaired by a not-OEM repairer.

vi. API 11IW Revision – Morg Buck reported. It was noted that there are 8 active licensees with this specification in the Monogram Program. However, the document is not being used. The task group recommends that this document be withdrawn. MMSP to ballot withdrawal of API 11IW.

e. TG3 Wellhead Design in Standards and TRs – Ken Young

i. WG PER15K Design Method– Ken Young updated the subcommittee on the attempts by other groups to begin using the PER15K document. (See Item 6ei Attachment)

ii. 6A ASME Design Method – John Fowler reported. An annex is being considered, but it is recommended to be a separate document. MMSP to create a new work item to develop this separate document concerning the ASME design method. John Fowler will chair this task group.

iii. Casting and Forging Study – George Hill / Sterling Lewis reported. Three phase program to look at Phase Draft report was scheduled for March 2011, now May 2012 (June meeting). Draft report has not been submitted. Final report, end of phase 1 was scheduled for November 2011. New date for final report not established. (See Item 6eiii Attachment) Note: Subcommittee chair needs to check on the status of the API contract for this work item.

iv. API 6AF2 – Corrected Charts – Sterling Lewis and Ken Young reported. (See Item 6eiv Attachment) Ballot changes agreed at 2012 summer meeting, The final analysis report LR1101084 report is in SC6 website in Committee Documents. The final report includes Attachment E “Comparison of FEA Results to API Technical Report 6AF2 Load Combination Charts”.

f. Resource Group on Tree and Wellhead – Eric Wehner. i. New Items suggested at 2011 SC6 Summer Meeting – Eric Wehner reported. (See Item 6f

Attachment) Issue 1 concerning electric actuators being hydrostatic tested can be corrected with an errata. Ed will issue an errata on this. MMSP that an errata be issued to remove “electric actuators” from the title of 10.16.5.1. Issue 2 concerning Annex F testing of electric actuators. MMSP to revise Annex F, as recommended by the task group, and ballot to publish as an addendum per attachment. Issue 3 on serialization of actuators. See proposed change in attachment. MMSP to circulate proposed changes for comment to the subcommittee. Issue 4 on hardness testing of loose connectors. MMSP to accept proposed changes for ballot and publish as an addendum as noted in the attachment.

ii. Stud/Nut Grade Matching – Lester Burgess / Eric Wehner Issue 5 on bolting requirements. MMSP to circulate this change to add note as recommended in the attachment for comment.

iii. API 6FA & 6FB Revision – Eric Wehner reported. g. Resource Group on Materials – Tim Haeberle Joel Russo reporting for Tim

i. 6A – Ballot submittal regarding the reference to ASME Section IX 2004 Edition – Tim Haeberle ii. 6A – Ballot submittal regarding furnace calibration requirements – Tim Haeberle iii. 6A – Ballot submittal regarding tensile testing and offset method for tubing hangers – Tim

Haeberle iv. 6A/ISO 10423 – Status update on metric size tensile test specimen correction needed – Tim

Haeberle. Joel Russo, reporting for Tim Haeberle, proposed recommended changes: 1. Item 1 MMSP to have proposal at the summer conference for removal of dated

ASME references, other than what is required for design purposes which is a separate work item of TG3, normative references also need to be aligned (See Item 6giv1 Attachment)

2. Item 2 on furnace calibration. Presented proposal to define Major and Minor furnace repairs. Proposal is to limit furnace recalibration for minor repairs. Annex M should be revised to allow for minor repairs to not require a full furnace survey. Minor repairs would have to be better defined, using AMS 2750D as a guide. Materials Resource Group is to continue work on the proposal. (See Item 6giv2 Attachment)

3. Item 3 on tensile testing sample size. This has been taken care of in regional annex. No SC6 action required (See Item 6giv3&4 Attachment)

4. Item 4 on tensile testing using 0.2% offset method for hangers. 0.2% offset method is to be used for hangers and needs to be clarified. This needs to be balloted. MMSP to ballot (See Item 6giv3&4 Attachment)

5. Item 5 on keel block references. Additional work required by workgroup. (See Item 6giv5 Attachment)

v. RP6HT - Status update on ballot for Second Edition – Joel Russo vi. 6A718 – Status update on addition of other nickel base CRA’s – Paul Maxwell reported. (See

Item 6gvi Attachment) API funds are allocated. vii. 6A718 – Status update on addition of another etchant for Alloy 718 - Paul Maxwell viii. 6A718 – Status update on addition of higher strength classes for Alloy 718 – Rashmi Bhavsar

reported. (See Item 6gviii Attachment) Tim to determine extent of testing appropriate to this effort and to assure that it is not redundant with other testing.
