“God is rich in mercy,
because of His boundless love for us.” Ephesians 2:4 tells us God’s
love knows no boundaries and neither does St. Mary of the Lakes.
New parishioners, regardless of where they live, are welcome and
encouraged to register at our parish. Registration forms are
available at the doors of the church, in the parish office, and on our
website at smlparish.org. Click on contact us/registration.
Confessions are heard on
Saturdays after 9:00 a.m. Mass and at 4:30 p.m. You may also call the parish office to make an appointment for a different time.
Please call the parish office anytime or speak to one of the priests after Mass.
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the second Sunday of the month at 1:30 p.m. Parents must attend a Baptism Preparation Session prior to their child’s Baptism. Sponsors also are encouraged to attend. Call the parish office (609) 654-8208, Ext. 110 as early as possible to make the necessary arrangements.
Congratulations to our engaged couples. Call (609) 654-8208, Ext. 110 to make arrangements for your wedding. We suggest you call at least a year in advance.
If you or someone you know is considering becoming a Catholic Christian or if you were baptized Catholic but never received First Communion and/or Confirmation, call (609) 654-8208, Ext.113. There are no tests to pass or fail. There is only faith to give and share.
Every Thursday after 9:00 a.m. Mass, concluding with Benediction at 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month.
The Sacraments are available to anyone confined to home or institution. Please contact the parish office if you know anyone who is unable to get to church.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is an all-volunteer ministry with services provided and supported by many of our parishioners. “Vincentians” provide outreach and assistance to anyone in need throughout our parish region. Jim Dwyer, President. (609) 953-0021.

the Gospel to children from birth to fourth grade

fun, and interactive activities and events. For

Any SMLS parent, guardian, or volunteer is encouraged to sign up to get VIRTUS training. VIRTUS is a national program designed to assist adults in recognizing inappropriate behavior towards children. The Diocese of Trenton requires any adult who has regular contact with children to attend a 2 1/2–hour VIRTUS session. Anyone wishing to volunteer at SML School or for PREP and has not previously attended a session must do so as soon as possible. Sessions throughout the Diocese are listed at virtusonline.org. There will be sessions offered here at SMLS on September 11th in the Parish Meeting Room (at back of School) at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Please pre-register at virtusonline.org or contact the PREP office at [email protected]. You may have seen the new pole flags in the parking lot and the banners at the parish entrances—all pointing you in the direction of Discovering Christ, a new program that will be unveiled at St. Mary of the Lakes in the next few weeks.
Have you been praying for someone to know the peace of Christ? Invite them to Discovering Christ and your prayers could be answered. Discovering Christ is a simple, gentle approach to opening hearts to Jesus.
It starts at the very beginning with ‘what is the meaning of life’ or rather ‘what is the meaning of your life’. No previous piety required. See the Discovering Christ registration form in this bulletin for details or email [email protected] for information.
We are in need of an Intercession Leader to support our ChristLife initiative beginning in the fall. Required “skills” include love for prayer and the ability to coordinate a small group of faithful prayer warriors. Hours are flexible—make your own schedule. If interested, contact Christine Brandt at (609) 654-8208, Ext. 113 or [email protected].
Bishop O'Connell invites the clergy and the faithful of the Diocese of Trenton to journey with him to the National Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, November 4th.
To make a pilgrimage is a religious devotion that has been part of human religious experiences for centuries. A pilgrim’s journey symbolizes a spiritual journey. Disciples step out of their
normal routine and allow the physical journey to stretch their inner journey into the heart of God, discovering their need for conversion as they draw near to the "Holy." Our nation and world continue to experience a series of crises that causes many to despair and live with great anxiety.
A bus will leave St. Mary of the Lakes at 7:30 a.m. The ride will include doughnuts and juice, morning prayer, and recitation of the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary with reflection. Estimated arrival is 11:00 a.m. At Noon, we’ll gather in the Great Upper Church for a Welcome, the Angelus, and recitation of the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary. At 12:45 p.m., there will be blessings for individual families in Upper Church chapels; Confessions/Catechetical sessions begin at 1:30 in the Crypt Church. Mass will be celebrated in the Great Upper Church at 3:00 p.m.
Bus departure will be 4:30 p.m. The ride home includes evening prayer, recitation of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary with reflection, and a rest/food stop. Estimated return is 10:00 p.m. Cost is $20.00 per person. Fill out the form below and mail to St. Mary of the Lakes, 40 Jackson Rd. Medford, NJ 08055. Mark your envelope to read “Diocesan Pilgrimage.” For more information call (609) 654-8208, Ext. 110.

From the Desk of Father Dan:
Thank you very much to every parishioner who has participated in the “Our Faith. Our Family. Our Future.” capital and building campaign. To date, $3,363,930 has been pledged, which is over 12 percent of our $3,000,000 goal! Again, thanks! The following are actual or estimated amounts on how the gifts will be used:
Supporting the Diocesan Faith to Move Mountains Endowment campaign at $1,263,500
Renovating the parish offices and increasing meeting rooms, estimated at $571,000
Upgrading the 60 year old HVAC systems in the church and rectory, estimated at $258,160
Adding a Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, estimated at $42,680
Supporting Catholic Education, estimated at $900,000
Leaving a balance of $298,980 to cover unpaid pledges and cost overrides
As you know, the consultative bodies (parish finance, parish pastoral, and 75th Anniversary Councils and the School Board) have supported this project since its inception. And, I have formed a parish building council of parishioners who are construction, engineering, and HVAC professionals to assist me. I have also interviewed three architects, selecting Patock Construction Company to proceed with design drawings. I used Patock at St. Benedict on a similar building project to renovate the parish offices, and to add meeting rooms and a Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. The contract from Patock is being drafted and reviewed by our pro bono attorney. A first meeting was held on August 22nd. Revisions were made to the layout of the office renovations and a tentative timeline/schedule to build will be determined.
Regarding Catholic Education, we have entered into an agreement with Partners in Mission, a well-respected Catholic Schools consulting firm with whom we will work for the next three years, receiving counsel for implementing recommendations on tuition, enrollment, and annual fund strategies and segmentation, volunteer management, constituent relations and the school’s case for support. We expect this partnership to help achieve an effective, well-rounded program of annual, capital, and planned giving support and a vibrant enrollment management program. They will also help us develop the role of Director of Admissions and Advancement and participate in the screening and interview process. All day meetings were held on Tuesday, August 29th.
If you have yet to do your part by making a gift to the OFOFOF campaign, pledge forms are available at the doors of the Church. Please join me in praying for the continued success of OFOFOF.
Children’s Church, a developmentally appropriate Liturgy of the Word class for preschoolers and kindergartners, will resume Sunday, September 24
th, during 10:30 a.m. Mass in the Parish Offices.
Parents, please bring children before entering the main Church. They will be brought over to church approximately 20 minutes later to join their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. (Parents, please sit in the section nearest the Rectory so you can be found easily. Registration forms are at the Jackson Road Entrance. Children’s Church will not be held on Sunday-designated children’s Mass. Adults are needed to assist us in this ministry. This is not “babysitting.” it is a wonderful opportunity to introduce our youngest parishioners to the beauty of the Liturgy of the Word.
St. Mary of the Lakes parish office is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant, approximately 15 hours per week. This position requires experience working in an office environment, strong telephone and interpersonal skills as well as computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of other database systems is a plus. Submit resume and salary requirements via email to Ms. Susan Kraemer, Business Administrator, [email protected] or by mail to St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church and School, 40 Jackson Road, Medford, NJ 08055
