Training ManualStep 1 Start Workbench
Start ANSYS Workbench and follow the sequenced steps using the abbreviations shown below:
DC = Double Click with Left Mouse Button
SC = Single Click with Left Mouse Button
RMB = Right Mouse Button Selection
D&D = Drag and Drop = Hold Left Mouse Button down on item while dragging it to new location and then release it (i.e., Copy or Move)
Throughout these Workshops, the procedures shown are not always the only way to accomplish the desired tasks, so feel free to investigate other methods via the documentation when outside of this course
The workshops consistently use RMB in the Outline tree to access options whenever possible
Often these options can also be accessed through the Context Toolbar
Sometimes these options can also be accessed using RMB in the View area

Training ManualStep 4 Specify the Project Units
4.a Select MKS for the Project Unitsfrom the Units List provided
4.b Request that Native Applications in Workbench have their values be Displayed in the Project Units
Note: Engineering Data is native in Workbench, but DesignModeler and Mechanical are NOT currently (but will be in the future). Therefore, always check that the local units system is as desired.

Training ManualStep 8 Edit the Model in Mechanical ...
8.e Notice the automatically defined Body Interaction. This allows a sliding interaction between the fragment and the plate (using the default Trajectory contact detection)
The Fragment and the Plate are separated by a small gap (1/2 mm), so no bonded contact regions have been automatically generated (If the two parts were touching, you would have to manually delete any bonded contact regions that were automatically generated always check this)

start a Solve
15.b Explicit Dynamics will start to run the simulation, but will stop immediately after writing an AUTODYN cycle zero file, because a 2D axi-symetric analysis cannot be run in Explicit Dynamics. You must use ANSYS AUTODYN to run the simulation and process results (by importing the cycle zero file created in this step)
