President’s Message Friend: One attached to another by
esteem/ respect
One not hostile, one not a foe
One you know, like and trust
And a favoured companion
All of our members fall into these
categories...it has been my pleasure
accompany you through the last two
years of the Ancaster Quilter’s
Guild. Thank you for being my friend.
One final thank you to Miss Marge who
made the journey each month more
pleasurable in spite of the #403 traffic.
You kept me between the lines. You gave
me guidance on words, stitching, ethics,
motherhood, gardening, baking and how
to run a meeting AND MORE! You stitched
my samples, proofed my patterns and
took me to Fortinos for supper! YUM!
Thank you friends!

Programme
June is our month to celebrate a wonderful
year of quilting at the Ancaster Quilters Guild!
We will have a social meeting, with those
members whose surname end in A-L to bring
treats for the gathering. M-Z will be asked to
bring items for donation to Interval House;
lunch bags, small craft kits, white glue/scotch
tape, underwear for ladies/children, novels/
books.
Feathering Quilt store will be visiting in June,
they will present some ideas from their store
as well as a “pop-up” shop. Located in
Dundas, the store offers a wide selection of
fabrics & accessories as well as quilting
classes for all levels of sewers. The shop has
lots of bright, happy fabrics, so it is a perfect
match for our June celebrations.

Workshops and UFO Dates
It is with bittersweet memories that
we write our last newsletter. It has
been a great four years, we have
worked through a successful
transition in locations, made many
wonderful new friends and have
been inspired by our many
teachers. We know workshops will
continue to be a great success
under the very capable leadership
of Marylou Pemberton and Karen
Exley. We eagerly look forward to
seeing what they have planned for
us in the coming year!

Block of the Month
The year is at its end and so is block of the month. If you have finished your version of this quilt please bring it in so that everyone can enjoy the fruits of your labour. Next year brings a new challenge and I hope many of you will join in.
This project requires around 900 half square triangles measured 2 ½” unfinished. This may sound daunting but if you do a few each day or several a week you will be done in no time.
There are several members in the guild who are actively working on their squares and I hope more of you will join in.
If anyone wishing to participate and is having difficulty feel free to call me for help.

Keeping you in stitches, Sam Croucher

Comfort Quilts Hello Quilters,
It's hard to believe we have arrived at the final month of the 2017 - 2018 guild year. It's been
a wonderful experience serving the guild as team members of the Comfort Quilts group. By
the end of June, we will have delivered an additional 87 quilts to our chosen organizations
bringing your total giving for the 10 month period to 211 quilts. This is an exceptionally well
done accomplishment ladies. We would like to thank everyone who made the program so
successful again this year. Your participation has allowed us to support those in need and we
are grateful for your efforts. We will have some kits available at the June meeting should you
wish to do any quilting over the summer. We will also have about a dozen quilts that require
hand binding. We look forward to another successful year commencing in September. Until
then enjoy the summer with family and friends.
With many thanks,
Ann, Cathy and Karen
