ST. CHARLES BORROMEO CATHOLIC CHURCH - FORT WAYNE, INDIANA
A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR . . . We welcome Bishop Rhoades and all of the families and visitors who join us for Confirmation this weekend. It is a beautiful event in our parish life.
Wednesday is the Feast of All Saints, a Holy Day of Obligation. Holy Day Masses are scheduled on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday morning at 6:15 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. and Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. Thursday is the Feast of All Souls. While it isn’t a day of obligation, it is also a beautiful day to come for Mass, remembering loved ones who have died and all of the souls in purgatory.
Next weekend we will celebrate the Feast of St. Charles Borromeo. We will use the regular Sunday Mass readings, but Mass prayers in honor of our patron.
We will have representatives here this weekend from Catholic Cemetery to answer questions and give information about the cemetery and the new funeral home. The new funeral home, Divine Mercy Funeral Home, will have an open house next Saturday, November 4, from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Pennies from heaven: We went well over our Bishop’s Appeal goal last year, and the parish has received $68,000 in the gifts over the goal. This is a big help in putting on a new roof.
An AED (automated external defibrillator) is the device which is found in most public buildings to help a person in cardiac distress. We have three AED devices at St. Charles, and we have just replaced all three with new models. Please note that the device in the church is now in a new location. It is located in the Gathering Space, under the north electronic screen. As you exit the church, look to your left and you will see it. There are two AEDs in the school: one inside the Hession Center doors and the other next to the cafeteria/parish hall.
November is a good time for priests to get away. Fr. James will return from India on Tuesday. Fr. Dennis will return from vacation on Saturday. Once they have both returned, I leave for vacation on Nov. 6 and return on Nov. 21.

Do you know anyone who is dealing with difficult prenatal diagnosis? It may be the detection of a chronic condition like Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida or Cystic Fibrosis, or a life-threatening disorder like Anencephaly, Trisomy 13 or Trisomy 18. Miriam’s Blessing is a new ministry of our diocese which is designed to offer comprehensive and compassionate support to parents before, during and after birth, so that they do not have to face the unique challenges posed by a difficult prenatal diagnosis alone.
