Bennett, Blair, of Honolulu, retired professor emeritus of public health at the University of
Hawaii, died recently in Munich, Germany, where he had been scheduled to lecture on
epidemiology and biostatistics. Bennett, 72, was recognized internationally for his original
scholarly contributions in mathematical statistics as applied to problems in public health and
medicine. He was author and co-author of more than 100 journal articles. Born in Washington,
D.C. Bennett became a faculty member at the University of Hawaii in 1971 and retired this past
summer. He was awarded a Senior Fullbright Award in August to lecture in biometrics at the
University of Munich. He has no known survivors. Services were arranged in Germany.

BERK, DR. MORTON, 76, a prominent Honolulu cardiologist who served on state and
national health boards, died July 12, 1990, at his home in Kaloko, Kona, on the Big Island. He
was 76. Berk was born in Lafayette, Ind. He graduated from the University of Louisville School
of Medicine and moved to Honolulu in 1944 as chief medical resident at what is now the
