Arkansas Associations for Food Protection (AAFP) 10 Year Anniversary Annual Conference
The Arkansas Association for Food Protection (AAFP) hosted the 10 Year Anniversary annual conference, September 17-20, 2018 at the Fayetteville Town Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. With over 250 food safety professionals in attendance, the conference began on Tuesday with keynote speaker Tejas Bhatt, Senior Director of Food Safety Innovations at Walmart, about the
importance of traceability and the use of Blockchain technology to advance traceability capabilities from Farm to Fork. The conference was filled with a roster of high-quality speakers from academia, industry, and regulatory agencies. Presentations covered a wide variety of food safety topics related to retail, live production, and manufacturing processes. Emerging issues in pathogen detection, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), process validation, whole genome sequencing, and outbreak investigations. Vendor Talks also allowed us to learn more about the services and research being conducted by the companies represented at the meeting.
