1. PCQI:Preventive Controls for Human Foods Background: Since the 16th September 2016, under the Food Safety Modernization Act, USA (FSMA), an approved food safety plan is compulsory for organizations of manufacturing, processing, holding, storing and transporting food. This requirement applies to not only those in the US but also companies who want to export food products to the US. This plan needs to be prepared by a Preventive Control Qualified Individual (PCQI). Objectives: The TAFP held a training program for providing attendee sufficient knowledge on making food safety plans and receiving PCQI certificates. Agenda: This 20-hour program was composed of 16 chapters. The course covered from Food Safety Plan Overview to Recall Plan, which discussed many food safety issues of physical, chemical, and microbiological aspects. This course fulfills the required by the FSPCA (details shown on page 15) Target audience: Organizations exporting food products to the US, food safety team

leaders, quality managers, consultants, the 3rd party auditors Date held: May 28th-30th, Nov. 16th-18th, and Oct. 29th-Dec. 31st, in the total of three

batches Numbers of attendees: May: 9; November: 24; October- December: 17 There are 50 attendee in the total.

2. Food Safety & Health Series Workshops Background: There have been several food safety or food fraud scandals in recent years in Taiwan. People are getting concerned about what they eat and pay much more attention on the knowledge of food safety. However, mass media and the Internet are flooded with lots of incorrect information on food safety and nutrition. It may result in anxiety and unhealthy diet of consumers as well as significant economic loss of the food industry. Objectives: To address the above issues, TAFP launched a series of workshops of Food Safety and Health for the general population, and broadcasted correct information to consumers. Agenda: These workshops contained topics on ketone diet, sports diet supplement, functional food, bone health and so on, in the total of 10 classes, two hours each. (details shown on page 23) Target audience: the general public Date held: 10 Saturdays from Jun. 9th to Dec. 8th Numbers of attendees: There are 343 attendee in the total.
