AlliancePrecisionPlastics,headquarteredinRochester,NY,isacustominjectionmolding,molddesign,moldbuilding,and

contractassemblycompany.Whatbeganasalocaltoolmakingshopin

1953hasgrownintoapowerfulproductionmoldingcompany,withover90injectionmold-ingmachinesspreadoverfourmainlocationsintheUSandMexico.ThemostrecentlocationcametoAllianceinearly2012viatheacquisi-tionofcertainassetsofMoldingDynamics,Inc.,locatedinSpindale,NC.Withthisacquisitioncametheawardofamajornewprojectbyalead-ingappliancemanufacturer,andaresultingneedforanewlineofmoldingmachinesandauxilia-riestosupportit.“WehadastrongcustomerbaseintheSouth-

easternUS,andsawtheSpindalefacilityasagreatfitforustobetterservicethatregionforbothnewandexistingcustomers,”saysJoeWilliams,VicePresidentofOperationsatAlliance.“Itwasanincrediblysmoothacquisitionandcombinationofcorporatecultures.ThetransactionbroughttoAl-liancethechancetohireanumberoftalentedandhard-workingpeopleinNorthCarolinatojoinourteam.ThatcombinationhasallowedAlliancetoexpandboththeirbusinessopportunitiesandtheirphysicalplant.”

OneofthoseopportunitieswastobidonalargenewprojectbeingofferedbyanexistingSpindalecustomer.Toaccommodatethenewworkcells,AlliancealsoneededtoexpandtheirSpindalefacility.

Asaresult,AlliancePrecisionPlasticsbeganconstructionona17,500sq.ft.additiontotheexistingplant.Thenewspaceisprimarilyforwarehouseuse,leavingmoreroomontheexistingfloorforthenewworkcells.

ThisadditionwasstartedinJuly2014andincludes5dockdoorsformoreefficientshippingandloading,aswellasincreasedcapacity.Itwascompletedandmovedintobytheendof2014.

Uponwinningtheprojectandplanningtheexpansion,Alliancewentoutlookingfortheequipmentnecessarytobuildthenewworkcellsnecessarytosupportit.Thenewprojectwasacomplexonethatrequiredmachinesthatof-
