ABOUT LAST NIGHT...: Ramon Cabrera delivered the hit that the Curve have been searching or or the past two

games as he cleared the bases in the third with a double that helped Altoona to a, 52, victor over the Harrisburg

Senators in Game 1 at Metro Bank Park. The timel hit would have been enough or starter Aaron Poreda (20) who

continues to impress in his rst two starts o the season. Last night, Poreda went six innings and allowed two runs on

ve hits while striking out six or a qualit start and his second win o the season. The Walnut Creek, Cali. native reall

onl had trouble with the top o the Senators lineup as he breezed through the bottom portion with ve o his six

strikeouts coming rom the bottom ve hitters in the lineup. He received more help oensivel rom Robbie Gross-

man, who smacked a groundrule double in the sixth that plated Adalberto Santos rom second to make it a 42game. Jarek Cunningham connected or his rst DoubleA home run in the seventh with a solo shot to right to make

it 52 in avor o the Curve. The bullpen trio o Vic Black , Kris Harvey and Tim Alderson combined or three scoreless

innings with Alderson picking up his rst proessional save. Cabrera nished the da 3or4, the team’s rst threehit

game o the season.

CURVE/HARRISBURG SERIES: The Senators and the Curve will meet a total o 14 times this season despite being the

closest team geographicall to Altoona (roughl 121 miles). This is the rst o two trips that the Curve will make to

Metro Bank Park in 2012 with the other coming at the end o June. Altoona will welcome the ‘Sens to Curve, Pa. during

their next homestand or three games rom April 2426. The two teams will not meet again in the regular season ater

the Curve’s nal series in Harrisburg, which ends on June 29. Last season, Altoona was 511 vs. Harrisburg and 37

inside the connes o Metro Bank Park.

FOR ALTOONA: Opening Da starter Mike Colla takes to the mound or Altoona in Harrisburg or game two o the

threegame series on Tuesda night. Colla actuall made his proessional debut as a starter here in Harrisburg last

season on April 28th, making a spot start or the then injured Bran Morris. Colla tossed our innings in that game andgave up a pair o runs while suering the loss. It was the rst o man starts though or the Santa Barbara, Cali. native

as he went on to make 23 or the club in 2011 while posting the ninthbest ERA in the Eastern League at 3.70. This

season, Colla is 01 and has permitted at least three runs in each o his rst two starts. Last time out, Colla went ve

innings in Richmond and surrendered six runs (our earned) on nine hits while striking out a pair. Last season against

the ‘Sens, Colla was 01 with a 2.70 ERA in three games (two starts). For more on Colla, see page two.

FOR HARRISBURG: Looking to even the series, the Senators trot out RHP Je Mandel to the mound at Metro Bank

Park on Tuesda night. Mandel, 26, is no stranger to the capital o the commonwealth as he has spent parts o each o

the last three seasons in Senators uniorm. In 2011, Mandel started with Harrisburg onl to make ve relie appear

ances beore being promoted to TripleA Sracuse, where he spent most o the season. In 43 games out o the ‘pen or

the Chies, Mandel put up a respectable 44 record with a 3.81 ERA and three saves. Last season was the rst time in

his proessional career that he came exclusivel out o the bullpen ater being a starter in the Nationals organization

rom 200710. He was selected b the ‘Nats in the 19th round o the 2007 drat out o Balor and enjoed his best pro

essional season in 2009 when he earned midseason AllStar accolades in the Carolina League. The Texas native also

started in the ASG or the Carolina League and then nished his ear with a stint in the Arizona Fall League.

CLUTCH CABRERA: Ramon Cabrera delivered a basesclearing double in the third inning on Monda night to snap the

Curve oense into shape or a win over Harrisburg. The switchhitting catcher collected the team’s rst threehit game

o the season on Monda night and all told is batting .333 in nine games plaed with ve RBI. He had two pinchhit

singles in his rst two pinch hit attempts over the weekend in Richmond as well.

QUALITY AND QUANTITY: The last turn through the starting rotation was prett solid or the Curve as three o the ve

starters turned in qualit starts while the other two both lasted ve innings. In the last time through the rotation, the

ve horsemen (Mike Colla, Nathan Baker, Brandon Cumpton, Aaron Pribanic and Aaron Poreda) have combined

or a 2.79 ERA, allowing nine earned runs in 29.0 innings pitched.

NO BULL: While the starters have been good, the bullpen has been equall impressive to start the oung season. The

have amassed a 1.49 ERA across 10 games and converted on all three save opportunities the’ve been given thus ar.

The unit has anned 38 batters in 36.1 innings o dut.

HEY SIX: Shortstop Brock Holt has reached base sael in all 10 games so

ar this season, hitting sael in seven o them and walking in the other three

and the team’s onl two stolen bases.

GET ‘EM ON, GET ‘EM OVER, GET ‘EM IN: Altoona was able to pound out

a win on Tuesda night but still did leave quite a bit o runners out on the

bases. Ater leaving nine on in the win esterda, Altoona has now stranded

a total o 27 men on in their past three games which averages out to one per

inning.

CLEANING IT UP: Ater making 13 errors through the seasons rst six games,

Altoona has made just one in its past our and went two straight games with

out a miscue (April 13 and 14). The team’s 14 errors are tied or third most in

the EL with Bowie behind New Hampshire (19) and Portland (17).

SECOND TIME THROUGH RINGS TRUE: Altoona seems to come alive oen

sivel and make adjustments the second time through the order as 12 o its
