Dear Friend in Ministry,

I’m writing to invite you to attend the 2016 Merge Conference on September 9-10. Once again, we will gather at Berean Assembly of God in Pleasant Hill for a couple of days of sessions specifically focused on ministry in the local church.

Our guest speaker is Doug Clay, General Treasurer of the Assemblies of God. Doug has served as a lead pastor, staff pastor, youth pastor (right here in Iowa!), district superintendent, as well as many other roles. He brings a wealth of ministry experience and godly wisdom regarding healthy local church ministry.

Merge will also offer several labs specifically designed for ministry roles in the church, including boards, students, children, men, women, and music/worship. I believe your ministry team will experience God’s presence together, and you will leave Merge with new insights and a common vocabulary to help you steward the ministry in your church and community.

As I write this, I’m reminded of the Apostle Paul’s words as he wrote the Church in Rome: “For I long to see you in order that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established; that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.” (Romans 1:11-12 NASB)

He has served as a lead pastor, A/G National Youth Director, and as a youth pastor in Ohio and Iowa. He is author of Dreaming in 3D. Doug and his wife, Gail, have two grown daughters.
