Halon Fire ExtinguisherHalon fire extinguishers contain a liquefied gas under pressure. When released, the liquefied gas agent
vaporizes and extinguishes the fire. This type of extinguisher is effective on all types of fires; Class A, B
or C. However, it is best utilized on Class B or C fires (electrical, fuel or grease).

Water Fire ExtinguisherThe water fire extinguisher contains a solution of water mixed with antifreeze. When the extinguisher
handle is rotated fully clockwise, the CO2 cartridge inside the handle is punctured and consequently
pressurizes the extinguisher. The extinguisher should be used on Class A fires only (fabric, paper or
wood).

CREW OXYGEN:
Indicates pressure at the crew
oxygen cylinder.
A discharge indicator is located onthe fuselage, slightly forward of the
forward cargo compartment door.
The indicator is a small plastic
disc, green in color. If the disc is
missing, this indicates that the
crew oxygen cylinder is empty due
to a thermal discharge of the
cylinder.
Note: The crew oxygen cylinder is
inside a housing compartment,
which is attached to the forward
right sidewall in the forward cargo
compartment.

crew oxygen
shutoff valve
The flight crew oxygen system utilizes quick-donning diluter demand masks/regulators located at each
crew station. Oxygen is supplied from a single cylinder located in the forward cargo compartment.
Oxygen pressure is displayed on the indicator located on the aft overhead panel. Oxygen flow is
controlled through a crew oxygen shutoff valve to a pressure-reducing regulator to supply low pressure
oxygen to the mask. The crew oxygen shutoff valve is located next to the circuit breaker panels behind
first officers seat.
Note: There are many
different types of crew
oxygen masks. The
type installed in your
aircraft may not
necessarily match thetype discussed in this
presentation.

Passenger OxygenThe passenger oxygen system is supplied by individual chemical oxygen generators (one located in
each PSU). Each PSU contains either 3 or 4 passenger oxygen masks. The masks will drop from the
PSUs automatically at a cabin altitude of approximately 14,000 feet or by positioning the PASS OXYGEN
switch to ON. The chemical oxygen generator is activated when any mask is pulled down. Once the
generator is activated, 100% oxygen will begin to flow to all masks (3 or 4). A green in-line flow indicator
is visible in the transparent oxygen hose whenever oxygen is flowing to the mask. Oxygen will flow for
approximately 12 minutes and cannot be shutoff.
