Livestock is a very important sector in Uganda and indeed in the region as an agent of fighting poverty and undernourishment
The sector provides income for millions of household along the value chain particularly to rural population
The sector also provides all important nutrients to rural population like eggs, milk, meat among others
The sector can also be viewed as complementing crop farming as the crop residue is used as animal feed and the animals on the other hand provides manure
Thus the impact of any improvement in the livestock sector cannot be gainsaid
