Words from Senior Pastor

1. Be Fruitful and Multiply, Getting ever Stronger (Exod. 1:1-7)

Israelites grew from 70 people to two million in Egypt. Being Fruitful

and Multiplying is the will of God (Gen 1: 28, 9: 1, 9: 9, 15: 5), both

physically and spiritually. We must conceive and give birth to a next

generation with God’s DNA, hence we will stay in blessings of God. If

people of God don’t fill the earth, then the pagans will fill the earth.

2. Strongholds of Egypt , Increasingly Oppressive

(Exod. 1:8-14, 22, 3:12)

A) Fear (Exod. 1:8-9)

Egyptians feared because of comparison. They feared the growing

numbers of the Israelites as a threat to their lives, hence they

dealt shrewdly with the Israelites. When one tries to compare, he

will fall into the stronghold of Egypt, and wants to take control and

oppresses others.

B) Retain (Exod. 1:10)

The stronghold of Egypt will serve to stagnate people in current

comfort zone, seeking no improvement; thus stagnating one’s

time, experience, profession, life and even the next generation.

C) Affliction (Exod. 1:11-14)

The original context of affliction is ANAH, which is to occupy or to

make busy. Stronghold of Egypt will occupy someone with busy-

ness, busy after all sort of desires, resulting in lack of his/ her time

with God, and with family. God wants us to excel in ministry, fami-

ly, as how we excel in our marketplace. Keeping ourselves busy is

not our goal, but efficiency is our goal.

D) Killing (Exod. 1:15-16, 22)

Pharaoh had two schemes to kill Israelites. Firstly, commanded the

midwives to secretly kill all Israelite baby boys; secondly, com-

manded the Egyptians to kill Israelite boys openly, to prevent Isra-

elites to multiply. Pharaoh killed only boys, showed our enemies

only weaken men with busyness, so men will not repent and re-

turn to serve God’s will – to manage and governance the land.

E) Assimilation

When Israelites don’t have men, Israelites women may have to get

married to Egyptians, thus being assimilated, the whole nation

being slowly demolished. Marriage is not something we should

compromise: believers and non-believers should not be yoked

together!

3. The Fear of the Lord, beginning of multiple Blessings (Exod. 1:17-21)

Though the Israelites were being put into great oppression, the two

midwives Puah and Shiphrah feared God and did not kill Israelite

baby boys thus allowing the Israelites to keep on multiplying. God

blessed them and made them prosper. The Fear of the Lord was the

key to breakthrough within strongholds of Egypt.

4. Timely Deliverance, multiple Breakthroughs (Exod. 2:1-10)

Pharaoh commanded to kill Israelite boys, but the boys, including

Moses, were saved by women. God even sent Pharaoh’s daughter to

nurture Moses physically & financially. In order to breakthrough the

stronghold of Egypt, women have to be brave, perseverant and pray,

to help men to rise up, for men to be someone with accountability,

to lead the family, and able to lead the nation to break out of the

stronghold of Egypt. ■[This sermon message was delivered on Mar

31, 2019. Edited by Sec. of editors.]

Out of Egypt, Freed from Oppression

Essence of Sunday Sermon

◎Rev. David Thien This week was particularly encouraging!

From both the market place disciples and

the children of our Children Church, many

uplifting and joyful news had been reported

from this young generation.

During our Wednesday Morning Devotion, a

very young market place disciple shared

with us his story ; that his participation in

the 3-days “Esther fasting & prayer” pro-

gram aroused the curiosity of his immediate

superior regarding the Feast of Purim, giving

him the opportunity to share with his superior during lunch break con-

cerning the Esther Story. Though a Christian for many years, this superi-

or had no knowledge of this Esther story, let alone PURIM and its sig-

nificance! During the 3-days “fast & Pray” period, apart from himself

experiencing God, this superior also took part in the balance two days

“fast & pray” to seek God’s leading and breakthrough in his own life.

Following that, during the Thursday co-workers meeting, we heard

more encouraging news from the Evangelism Department Co-workers,

who brought with them several evangelism team members, some

youths and children to attend the “5 Stars Evangelism Seminar” – an

English evangelism Model conducted at Glad Tidings Church right next

door. As majority of the participants were reverends tand pastors, the

very young-age participants from GA611 truly enlivened event. They

became the focus of attention, because they were the group that ac-

tively and freely responded to the speakers, they were also the group

that witnessed to most people outside of the event. They became the

young generation that provided a comfort and encouragement to the

older generation in the event.

Meantime, I also received a note of thanksgiving from a 611 Church

Pastor of a foreign nation. One of our GA disciple was on holiday over-

seas, was invited to share on GA’s Core Value “Honor before inher-

itance” during their Sunday Service. The pastor greatly appreciated the

quality of the message and also said his congregation was greatly

stirred and encouraged by the core value.

We are very much comforted by all the above news, and felt GA har-

bors a great hope because of our next generation. To the GA youth

disciples, young teens and children, we would like to say we are proud

of you, and are grateful to God for you.

We came to study Exodus 11 during our MD on Thursday, reaching the

point when God was about to release the most severe judgment upon

the Egypt, with the view to trigger the separation of the Israelites from

the land of Egypt. Egypt represented a power, was symbolic of the sec-

ular world. Psalm 4:3 stated that “the Lord has set apart from Himself

him who is godly” . Godly refers to one who is “holy” and “loving”.

Therefore, as we take on the journey to follow the Lord, we must be set

apart from this world, be in the world but of the world. Be mindful of

the biblical truth that God hears the prayers of the Godly ones.

Brothers and sisters, though our journey of living a (sanctified) set apart

life in this world will encounter rejections, boycotting, even mockery,

we will surely be victorious, because God will vindicate His Godly ones

with divine blessings in the face of Egypt (the world), not to mention

the transfer of the wealth of Egypt to God’s people. Therefore, never be

afraid to set apart from this world and stand by the LORD, as there is

the path for blessing!■

Next Generation – Great Hope

MG12 Good Shepherd’s Tips

Shepherding Insights

1. Trust the Authority

Sometimes cell leaders will frankly point out problems in our lives out

of love. The frankness of the authority shows that we have established

a certain degree of trust and intimacy. The enemy will wait for the

opportunity when we feel unease to ruin our relationship. Therefore,

as disciples, we must trust our authority. They are our spiritual parents

who love us as much as their children.

2. Good Attitude

Cell leaders should hold a positive attitude, not allowing negative think-

ing or fear due to what cell members say, or the pruning of our author-

ities, to interrupt our communication or even affect our relationship. If

communication between you and your authority is difficult, you may

seek assistance from your G leader or MG department.

3. Willing to Shepherd

When cell leaders are willing to shepherd, God is pleased and they

shall receive the crowns from God in the future. Although the enemy

does everything possible to undermine our relationship with our au-

thority and cell members, as long as

we are willing to continue to shep-

herd, God sees it and will give us the

grace we need.■

Children are the heritage of parents. Parents, who are willing to dedicate their children to God as their first fruit, express their response to God in faith and love. Parents understand how to nurture their children in Jesus Christ so that they can become people with self-confidence and love. This is truly meaningful! We are anticipating more little Kingdom elite soldiers to rise up in GA!
