October

2021

Our Staff Active School Committee are continuing the huge

promotion of physical activity (PA) in school as we aim to be

awarded our first Blue Flag as a PA promoting school.

In September we had our tarmac yard spaces sprayed with

games and activities for the children to have fun and keep fit

break time – the Spooky Halloween walk/dress-up is next

Friday, October 22nd. We are trying to incorporate PA with all

school events.

Active Schools

Huge thanks to school Board of Management

who have just purchased a brand-new AED.

All staff are currently completing a First Aid

Course. The school is adopting a Code Blue –

Emergency Response Plan to ensure all

children, staff and visitors are given kept as

safe as possible.

We have decided to have a Book Fair this year, it will start this Thursday October 14th to 21st. Scholastic Ireland are running the Fair in conjunction with the school. Parents from infants classes will be invited to bring their child with them after 1.40 p.m. on one of the days (a timetable will be issued to you). Books for infants can be bought at the fair. All other classes will visit with their teacher and depending on stock the order will be processed in a few days. Children can complete a wish list and bring it home to you to decide if you wish to make a purchase or not, it is completely optional. An envelope to return the exact amount of money and your book order will be provided. Please return the order to the class teacher.

We receive a precentage of each purchase in book credit and the aim is to

start building a stock of new books for our library in the new school.

Aistear – Play Based Learning

The Special Education Team and infant class teachers have put in an incredible

effort since returning in September to develop the quality of Aistear in infant

classes. Two Aistear rooms have been created and the children are really

benefiting from all the hard work and preparation!

Our Parent Teacher Meetings

will be taking place during the

week of November 15th. The

school has decided that these

meetings will take place via

phone. On Tuesday November

2nd you will be sent a link via

Aladdin to book a time slot that

suits you.

It is a great opportunity for both

parents and teacher to connect

and share information so that

each child is progressing to the

best of their ability in school.

Halloween 2021

The Halloween season has just started

here in school. It is great to see the

autumnal season being highlighted

across the subjects from SESE to

literacy, gaeilge and drama.

On the day of the holidays, Friday

October 22nd, the children are invited

to dress up in a costume for some fun!

There will be a spooky walk on the

school grounds on the day.

Important Date – Wednesday Half Day Closure

24th November School closed for half day teacher training.

Training is on new Language Curriculum and DES mandated.

As

IPads

Last year we purchased our

first set of 32 Ipads and they

have been a great success to

further enhance teaching and

learning.

The Board of Management has

decided to purchase a second

set which should be here very

shortly to cater for the

demand from classes.

Covid 19

We await the latest Covid news

on October 22nd and we will

inform you over the Halloween

Break if there will be any changes

here in school.

As communicated to you

previously we are no longer

involved in contact tracing. We do

appreciate that parents continue

to keep us informed of positive

cases.

Teachers will continue to provide

online support via Seesaw to any

child who tests positive, is a

sibling who is isolating or any

other Covid related absence.
